I'm so excited to be opening for the mighty @combochimbita at @tubbyskingston ! In 2017 I hosted them at @presentpresentfest where they opened a portal into otherworldly dimensions on that sacred mountaintop. With joy and admiration I have seen them grow and develop their inimitable sound. It will be a rare and sublime opportunity to catch them in the intimate space of Tubby's! Ahí nos vemos!!!

🪇 MODRUMS AKA Morgan Greenstreet from Brooklyn is a drummer/DJ/journalist based in NYC. He approaches his DJ sets with an ear to the sonic footprint of the African diaspora, drawing on an impressive collection built from his years as a radio producer and a musician and shaped by his frequent travels through Europe, West Africa and the Caribbean. He plays with a sense of tension and release, emotion and humor, merging roots, retro pop and current aesthetics into a singular experience of communal joy. He kicks off at 11PM in the social club and goes until late — come prepared to kill the night dancing. @modrums.music 🚨 DEEJAY THEORY is our own 413’s relentless beat-maker on the global dance front. A New England native by way of San Francisco, Jake Krauth has been swimming in international musical waters for most of his adult life. While out West, he co-founded and hosted TORMENTA TROPICAL, a decade-long dance party in SF’s Mission district. His in-demand DJ sets diffuse a multiplicity of genres with careful craftsmanship, exquisitely blended with near-zero turbulence and maximal groove. Western MA, are you ready for this one? 😤😤😤 On Friday night, MARCH 7, of our Berkshires weekender, we’re bringing in @kokokomusic , the duo of Congolese vocalist Makara Bianko and French producer Débruit. This band exploded like an atomic bomb out of Kinshasa’s creative arts scene — where trash + waste are used to build instruments, elaborate costumes, and crazy sculptures. Bianko and Débruit, who are part of a broad and multifaceted arts collective in Kinshasa, bring us the vibrant, wire-melting dance experience of the Democratic Republic of Congo with electro-punk flourishes and polyglot abandon. KOKOKO!’s electronic Kinshasan afrofuturism also grooves heavily off of 90s dance music, including specifically African varietals of house music like Kwaito. They exploded onto the scene in 2018 and quickly rewrote the usual western narrative of what electronic music is, and more importantly, what “world music” isn’t. The band’s creative DIY approach and wild, uncontrollable sounds tore up the perception/pre-condition of an African band of the past. As Pitchfork writes, “KOKOKO! excels at turning chaos into euphoria.” @deejaytheory and @modrums.music are on the 1s and 2s on both the front and back side of this powerful Congolese sound machine, so ready up for a serious dance hang. What’s up, Western Mass. We’re back again at the end of Winter for a ritual of sorts — a cabin-fever breaker weekend in the Berkshires with our @racebrooklodge fam and some of our fave musicians and DJs.
