This was the third piece I directed, designed and animated for our in-house series 'In the Sidelines', over at @studio_sideline over a year ago!
Teamed up with animation extraordinaire @saileshgopalan for this one, who wore many hats to make this piece happen, from impeccable tie-downs to incredible expressions, from colouring to sound design and even comp!
We had the perfect workflow, with my rough energetic animation setting a base for Sailesh to refine, solidify and embellish!
I wanted every second to be alive, joyous and an animation thrill ride, and I think we achieved just that!

Paper Cut- This was the second piece I directed, designed and animated for our in-house series 'In the Sidelines', over at @studio_sideline almost two years ago. Partnered up with the incredible @derekdomnicdsouza for this one, who made this possible with his rock solid Blender skills, unbelievable speed and troubleshooting (and last second sound design magic)!
We actually went all the way from rough idea to final output in under three days!
I was heavily inspired by the Parchment Vulture from 'Across the Spiderverse' and wanted to capture that highly textured and rough, gritty hand-drawn aesthetic with the structure and smoothness that 3D provides.

So on the weekends, when we're out celebrating his victories, he locks himself up in that room. Still looking. It's been ten years since her last kill but he's still in there, hoping that she'd been kind enough to drop him just one hint."

This was the first piece I directed, designed and animated for our in-house series 'In the Sidelines', over at @studio_sideline almost two years ago. Partnered up with the OG @_vibhavsingh who brought his absolute A game to this with his keen colour sense, incredible background paintings and expert comping 🤌🤌
As a heavily layered and segmented piece, it was only pretty close to end that we could see it all come together, which was thrill of its own!

Glad to have caught this in the theatres with friends! Classic Ghibli experience in many ways, but it also beautifully pushed that definition with some intense eeriness

IN THE SIDELINES | Showreel

‘In The Sidelines’ is an in-house venture we started last year, where we explored and pushed the boundaries of our comfort zones to create original animated pieces without the constraints of larger project requirements.
Each project within In The Sidelines had a ‘leader’, a ‘subordinate’, and two weeks of time to finish, and we explored every possible combination between us four co-founders to create 12 final products (successfully finishing season 1, yay)!
