Story Behind: The great part about working on this project was that we were able to dramatize each and every concept that the client approved. Get a Michael Scott type character who prides at knowing 3-4 Japanese words and takes it upon himself to teach it to his employees. The earnestness and dedication at which he does that shows how proud he is of the opportunity of taking the Japanese market. Working with NGOs is always meaningful to me, but when they are also in the art/music space, it makes it all the more fun. This was in 2021 when COVID was at its tail end, I was asked to shoot all the kids who were at @tddp_in to make images for their profiles and to use when they perform. It was a lot of fun getting to know each of them, what their art was about and a little bit of their story. There were rappers, dancers and graffiti artists too. Have tagged folks whose profile I could find. Visually I tried to keep it simple, bare, show their environment and try to highlight who they are. I had seen @ranjaniramadoss perform with @anohnymouss a while back. Then, I heard Ranj’s new album & it was so good! I had to catch @ranjxclifr live, & couldn’t miss it at G5A considering the epic production + amazing lighting by @abhinavkhetarpal1 I’m really enjoying shooting for myself and the freedom it brings, it feels like this is where I’m gravitating towards in terms of my practise in music. Sometimes, with briefs and requirements, I end up doing both photo + video and a short set - it becomes too overwhelming and too much to do in less time. I’m hoping to bring this approach to artists I work with hoping they have the bandwidth to hire folks who do photo + video individually. Working with artists and making visuals has always been something I’ve wanted to delve deeper into. Specially with live concerts, there’s so much that can be done to tailor that experience. Being a photographer, I often tend to feel that the live experience can be elevated. When lights, visuals and photography come together to visualise the music, it’s magical. With this intention, I shot @tamiljazzcollective at @iimw.in Showcase. I got to work with lights, visuals spontaneously to imagine what their live experience could be in a limited timeframe. But I’m so happy with how the whole show turned out. Been really enjoying making live images and just exploring how I’d like to shoot. Blurs FTW! 2025 was a year of firsts for us! We took up the challenge of creating a short film in 50 hours for IFP and had an absolute blast through it all. Watch our labour of love - Channi. :) What happens when an emotionally unavailable parent, parents a son? What bonds do they form? What patterns do they fall back on? How do they navigate this tricky relationship full of complication, yearning, hurt and discomfort? Like a channi filters chai, the essential beverage in every Indian household, we see a man filter through his deepest emotions, trying to make sense of a life without his father. Without his emotionally unavailable father.
