Born and raised in Ōtautahi and now based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, OPERATOR (@thevictorchang ) is a professional morale raiser and moshpit participant. He has recently decided to take his classical piano training and enter the world of DJing and production. OPERATOR is for the fist pumpers, the finger gunners, the booty shakers, the elbow throwers and the low droppers, with some treats thrown in for the spin kickers too. With this mix, he takes you through his entire daily musical moodboard, sprinkled with some heat from local talent, and hopes to someday see you in the pit 💥

See you in the chat 🔜 🔥 MESSIE is an open format DJ based in Pōneke who has been quickly making a name for herself through the local scene. She’s since progressed to support for international acts Bakey and Breaka, Y U QT, and recently for big DJ sensation Fred Again. Her sound is ever-changing and genre-defying but what remains consistent is her love for big whacky drums and percussion, with heavy bass and breaks mixed in with her own favourite singalongs. This is a mix that’ll keep you up, amped and guessing!

Tonight at 8pm on @__mouthfull__ we have a mix from gabriel (@gb_rl_ ), an up and coming deejay we met at last year’s Sports Practice 🤾‍♀️🤾‍♀️🤾‍♀️ Inspired by the colours of Wellington, gabriel has recently burst into the scene with her unique flavour of music, infusing techno beats with an infectious upbeat energy that she loves to dance to. With this tech house set, she hopes that you come along to dance with her.

Longtime inhabitant of the dance floor and Practice Presents alumni, she enjoys creating sets that conjure up the feeling of a never ending summer. She is inspired by dance/electronic of the early 2000s, Italian house of the 90s, and the immense amount of local talent here in Pōneke. With this mix she wanted to select an array of timeless dance rhythms to create a constant upbeat sound for moving on the dance floor! You know what to do! See you in the chat 👀💥

Ā te pō nei, for our last mix of the year, we are proud to present a mix from @tom.plum on @__mouthfull__ at 8pm ✨✨✨ Fresh n’ fruity in the ‘03, Tom Plum (Ngāti Hako) has quickly carved a home for themselves in Ōtautahi’s electronic music scene. Passionate about creating an energetic and restorative space on the dancefloor, Tom’s focus is on uplifting and celebrating our LGBTQIA+, Tangata Moana, and BIPOC whānau. As both part of the rōpū that organises Queer Horizons (@queerrrhorizons ) and one of the collective’s resident DJs, Tom played their debut set at the inaugural QH club night earlier this year.
