POTC COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT Meet @izzymanafilms from the POTC community Talented Writer and Director ✍🏾 🎥 We love his fashion film FAMILIAR TRACES Familiar Traces is a fashion film narrative which explores the internal pressure that second generation Black British youth face from a young age, using fashion as the main context. An exploration of the expectations of a young Black British man who’s struggling with his identity and the pressure of unseen responsibility. He reflects on a conversation he had with his father when he was younger which helps him to navigate his adult life. Using the baobab tree to symbolise his life, meaning and culture. The texture 👌🏾 The wides 😍 The voiceover 🎶 Well done Izzy and the full team! Inspire. Fellow creatives, we’ve all been there when you are working on mood boards, treatments, pitches and searching you saved images, to express your creative vision. Sometimes we know the image we want but just cannot find it. Annoying. We love this one and wanted to share. If you love it too save it for your future creative deck 😉 A still from Burna Boy’s Pull Up music video The colour pops👏🏾 The framing 😍 The depth 👌🏾 Shout out to the director @mejialabi and cinematographer @joelhoneywell

A little update from me… The last few months I’ve been quietly working away on creating a community for black and brown folk working in the Film & TV called Power of The Culture (POTC) @potcfolk A space for collaboration and helping each other level up our careers. Even created a WhatsApp community which is now filled with amazing talented people so if you wanna join DM me. But speaking on levelling up I’ve been speaking to the wonderful folk at @spindlefilms and they are offering 3 directors and/or producers in our POTC community a 10 week mentorship programme with one of their Exec Producers starting in January 2025. As a lot of the industry is based in London they are keen to hear from folks who live outside of London too! So if you’re a black or brown creative and interested sign up to join the community so we can put you forward! Link in the bio! ✌🏾😘
