Excited to share that My Kanga and Me has been officially selected for the Cyprus Fashion Film Festival, part of the Cult Experiences Festival 🤎✨
My Kanga and Me is a poetic fashion film following three young wanderers wrapped in East African kanga as they move through Brixton and open fields beyond. Blending spoken word, real interviews and stylised visuals, the film explores memory, belonging and Black queer identity. Inspired by the late Kawira Mwirichia’s “Kanga Pride” Project, it reclaims the kanga as a living archive of culture and resistance: a garment that remembers, holds and guides us back to ourselves.

POTC COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT
Meet @izzymanafilms from the POTC community
Talented Writer and Director ✍🏾 🎥
We love his fashion film FAMILIAR TRACES
Familiar Traces is a fashion film narrative which explores the internal pressure that second generation Black British youth face from a young age, using fashion as the main context.
An exploration of the expectations of a young Black British man who’s struggling with his identity and the pressure of unseen responsibility. He reflects on a conversation he had with his father when he was younger which helps him to navigate his adult life. Using the baobab tree to symbolise his life, meaning and culture.
