Adey Omotade's Ęęro : Eeşu, the latest release on Afrosynth Records (AFS060), has landed in South Africa and will hit stores here including @khaya_records @roastinrecords and @the_commons_muizenberg as well as worldwide over the next few days and weeks. A fixture on Joburg's live scene as drummer for The Fridge (the influential neo-soul trio that helped launch the careers of @bongeziwemabandla and @samthingsoweto and released a self-titled album in 2011), Adey's talents have since evolved to composing electronic music inspired by ancient Yoruba tradition but striving toward the future, a sound he calls @postafrobeat . Each track on the new album unfurls like aso-oke, the celebratory fabric of the Yoruba people: drums that speak in polyrhythms, synths bending like waves, incantations layered like memory, fading then returning gently like the water at the banks of the Osun River...
