I recently made my own version of one of Dick Smith’s creations from the 1980 film Ghost Story. I wasn’t even going to sculpt this until @intofx suggested it. Thanks Matt! You have excellent taste in monsters! It’s too bad this version of Alma Mobley was cut from the final film because it’s such a great classic Dick Smith design. She’s foam filled and I made the teeth and gums separately. The teeth and gums were sculpted in oil based clay then I made a silicone mold of them and cast them in @polytekdevelopmentcorp Easy Flo 60 plastic. She’s painted with Nightshades paint by @motionpicturefx and @mabry_monsters She’s cast in latex by @blacklagoonsupply and foam filled with @bjbenterprises TC-274 foam. #makeupartist #dicksmith #horror #art #woman

Sneak little peek at what goes into these nightlights. They are a LOT of work, but oh so work worth it.
From pouring the base, creating the landscape, then the ocean waves and adding the plug there is a lot of steps! However, they continue to be favorites both at our shops and at the markets!

Finally able to share some footage from a really fun project that we had the pleasure of handling SFX and prosthetics for. Thank you to @crow_house_projects for getting us involved!
The brief for this effect was that @vickersimogen needed to look like a creature was coming out of her neck. Taking inspiration from a visual effect used in the film Constantine, our team designed a head rig based off of a 3d scan of Imogen, which was designed to snap backwards when a pin was pulled. The inside of the head was hollow which allowed @josscarter.yourworstnightmare to push his hand up through the skin of the neck, which was made with a mix of Platsil 10 with varying levels of deadener to give it stretch without tearing. Lighting the effect was done by the director @jamiesundance with a handheld light inside the torso.
