The client wanted a Moroccan style bathroom for the truck conversion, but traditional tadelakt or plaster finishes would have been totally impractical in a moving vehicle due to the weight and likelihood of cracking with movement. To achieve the look, I first sculpted the walls using polystyrene to create the soft organic shapes and curves, which also acts as an insulating layer. I then coated everything in Habitat Cast n Coat by @smoothon , to create a durable hard waterproof finish that could cope with moisture, vibration and everyday use inside the truck. For me it was about creating something long lasting and functional while still capturing the feel and aesthetic the client wanted. I’m fully aware these aren’t the most sustainable materials in the world, but within the constraints of a vehicle build it felt like the right balance between creativity, practicality and longevity. Schritt für Schritt haben wir einen Kopf dupliziert und aus der Silikonform einen Kopf aus Schaum mit PU Deckschicht hergestellt. Der große Vorteil dabei: passgenaue Perücken können direkt auf weichen und leichtgewichtigen Köpfen mit Nadeln montiert werden. Out of this mold, a foam head with polyurethane coating was created. Vom 3D-Modell zur fertigen Betonstatue! @filigran.ch dokumentiert eindrucksvoll, wie mit KAUPO Produkten aus einer digitalen Idee eine künstlerische Betonstatue wird.Dargestellt werden Schwinger – also Athleten aus dem traditionellen Schweizer inoffiziellen Nationalsport Schwingen. Ausgehend von einem bestehenden Motiv wurde zunächst ein 3D-Modell erstellt. Daraus entstand ein Positivmodell aus Styropor, das anschließend von Hand nachbearbeitet wurde. Für den Formenbau kamen SONITE™ WAX zur Versiegelung, CHAVANT™ CLAYETTE™ für die Stützform, REBOUND™ 25 Silikon für die Abformung sowie EASE RELEASE™ 205 als Trennmittel zum Einsatz. Nach dem Ausschalen und erneuten Einschalen konnte die Form schließlich mit Beton ausgegossen werden. The figures depicted are Schwingers – athletes from Schwingen, Switzerland’s traditional unofficial national sport. Starting from an existing design, a 3D model was first created. From this, a positive model made of styrofoam was produced and then refined by hand. For the mold-making process, SONITE™ WAX was used for sealing, CHAVANT™ CLAYETTE™ for the support mold, REBOUND™ 25 silicone for molding, and EASE RELEASE™ 205 as a release agent. After demolding and reassembling the mold, it was finally filled with concrete.
