for years, i’ve been fixated on the concept of alternate realities. that Reality is not just the one we live in but a multi-layered, labyrinthine, and infinite web of Realities of past, present, and future. with the recent proliferation of AI, there has been a sudden surge of new alternate realities and with it significant societal and economic shifts bringing about unique challenges and forcing us to be more creative than ever to survive in this world. on the other hand, it’s offering immense potential for innovation and productivity opening up the floodgates to imagination and new ways of thinking.
after orbiting around each other in parallel circles (and fangirling for each other 🥲) for years, J and I finally connected on this project where they were ready to let us in on the world of JSPORT. when presented with the storyline, I really wanted to make sure that AI was not only depicted as menacing and surveillant but as an instrument of creativity and stepping into your inner reality. when in the editing room, we made sure to differentiate the 3 realities with different color grade techniques. taking inspiration from the concept of nested realities, the first scene is where the audience is introduced to JSPORT’s lair disguised as the world the story is set in, the second is the deepest layer where we dive into J’s inner world of childlike wonder, play, and dance, and the third is where we zoom back out into the “real world” where we’re observing the scene via a surveillance camera and our drone character breaks the fourth wall protecting JSPORT from any uninvited onlookers.
the ‘No Turning Back’ music video is a declaration of emergence, a commitment to always evolve, and a vow to not live in the past anymore. J, i’m infinitely inspired by your artistry and work ethic. thank you for trusting me to actualize your first music video and to lead this team across the finish line!
