Í dag kl. 17 verður listamannaspjall og áhersla lögð á opið samtal milli gesta og fimm listamanna sýningarinnar Sambland / Combi-Nation ADAM FLINT TAYLOR JULIE SJÖFN GASIGLIA NATKA KLIMOWICZ PATTY SPYRAKOS VIKRAM PRADHAN Sambland / Combi–Nation fjallar um að rata í gegnum lífið – frá upphafsreit til endapunkts. Sýningin skoðar hversdagsleg augnablik sem hafa þann kraft að geta kollvarpað stefnu og tilveru þess sem lifir. Lista-menn sýningarinnar hafa ólíka bakgrunna og koma frá ólíkum stöðum en eiga það sameiginlegt að hafa ratað óvænt til Íslands, staðs sem er orðið að heimili þeirra. Öll hafa þau upplifað, á ólíkan máta, að rífa upp gamlar rætur á fyrri slóðum og rækta nýjar. Eins og planta í nýrri jörð sem rótar sig á ókunnugum slóðum, þarf hún að kljást við hindranir, sem getur reynst sárt og kalt. 🔀 Today at 5PM five artist from Sambland Combi-Nation will welcome you to join them for an artist talk and open forum. ADAM FLINT TAYLOR JULIE SJÖFN GASIGLIA NATKA KLIMOWICZ PATTY SPYRAKOS VIKRAM PRADHAN Sambland Combi-Nation is about navigating through life—from one end of existence to the other. It reflects on mundane moments that combine to bend the arc of one’s life in a direction fundamentally different from where it began. The exhibition centers on artists from different backgrounds and countries whose paths, by choice or circumstance, have led them to making Iceland their home. Each has experienced, in different ways, the act of uprooting themselves from the ground they grew from and planting themselves in entirely different soil. Like a transplanted plant recognizing the nutrients of new land, there is a desire to take root—but sometimes rooting into unfamiliar terrain can also mean encountering its roughness and coldness.

Laupäeval, 18. aprillil toimub Teo Ala-Ruona @teoalaruona residentuuri showing! Teose esietendus toimub 2027. aasta mais Pannuhallis, Dance House Helsinkis. Residentuuri toetab Soome Kultuurifond. Showing on tasuta. Foto > Alana Proosa @alana_proosa ◦ ◦ ◦ Teo Ala-Ruona’s @teoalaruona residency showing will take place on Saturday, April 18th! During the residency, the working group concentrates particularly on the designers’ contributions to the upcoming production: on developing Pola Sutryk’s abstract jelly sculptures referencing various organs, and on fine-tuning Ala-Ruona’s and Tomic’s practice of character creation through dance. ꕤ ꔚ ꕤ ꔚ ULGA WEDNESDAY WORKSHOP: Let’s make, bake & break bread together! A COVENANT OF BREAD WORKSHOP 08.10. 16:00–18:00 WITH Pola Sutryk & Leo Baumgärtner LANGUAGE  The workshop takes place in  English FREE ENTRY  Donations welcome
ACCESS  Our space is accessible by wheelchair PARTICIPATION The workshop is open to all & free of charge. If you are interested in joining us, kindly send an email to [email protected] to register. ꕤ ꔚ Inspired by the traditional Slavic celebratory bread Korovai and the ancient gesture of sharing bread to forge bonds, we will make kin as we decorate, bless and share our own small korowajczyki, each carrying vows to collective futures. As we sink our hands into the dough, we imagine landscapes where these baked talismans might be placed as gestures of commitment. What memories, stories and emotions of togetherness will rise with the dough? How do we bind ourselves to collectivity, care and resistance? Participants are invited to bring ingredients, foraged elements, stories or memories to fold into the dough. Together we weave these offerings into breads and close with a shared meal, tasting the freshly baked korowajczyki. ꕤ Pola Sutryk ist an artist, chef and experience designer based in Reykjavik. Her practice revolves around cooking and hosting as processes of energy exchange, carried out with equal respect for those who cook, eat, and are eaten. Drawing on wild landscapes of eastern Poland, she creates edible installations and multisensory performances. ꕤ Leo Baumgärtner is a cook and food researcher based in Berlin. He explores the cultural significance of food, its deep ties to identity and community, and collaborates with farmers and artisans to preserve local food cultures and systems, turning cooking into a practice of care and solidarity. ꕤꕤꕤ This is the first workshop in a series of gatherings, curated and organized by @ulga.in.practice , happening in the SAVVY house on 2 Wednesdays in October.

Made this candy garden for @_sleikur_ and it was hot Apricot, cream and pomegranate lollipops on branches, that you had to harvest yourself using provided pruning clippers and split cherry lollipop on a string, for a little lady and tramp moment with a chosen partner 🥵 Seeing people figure it out and seeing the childlike sense of wonder on their faces as they got it was so awesome I love putting food in a club setting, invite me to your parties xx (Scroll for some process pics. Big thanks to Pelka for making many batches of lollipops with me, Ólöf and Hrabba for branches and installation help, Natka and Máni for getting the grass table their neighbour was getting rid of, Clare for candy thermometer, my babe Alex for systematically cleaning the house as I was covering it in new and new layers of sticky candy, Icelandic wind for knocking down this big branch used in the center, etc - because obviously nothing ever happens in a vacuum, and every project, no mater how big or small, has many human and non-human collaborators)

One of my all time favourite techniques - 𝓴𝓸𝓱𝓪𝓴𝓾𝓽𝓸𝓾 - traditional Japanese wagashi made for centuries and an asmr internet obsession. Made from agar and sugar, they are hand cut into jewel shapes and then air dried until sugar crystallise on the outside = crunchy outside and jelly inside. I’ve been making them for years and still get excited
