I've had the privilege to spend my career building communities. From co-founding @blavity and @afro.tech with @morgandebaun to launching @collidecapital with @brian_hollins , the throughline has always been the same: build for the most deserving, not the most privileged. Today, I'm proud to announce the close of an oversubscribed $95M Fund II at Collide Capital. What Brian Hollins and I aimed to build was not just a fund. The goal was an ecosystem. Now, 5 years later, we have backed 75+ portfolio companies and had 5 exits. We've are activating a network around our founders, partners, and a community of operators and investors that continue to support one another The check is just the beginning — the ecosystem is the product. To every founder, LP, and person who trusted us with this mission: thank you. We're just getting started. Full story in @techcrunch . Big thank you to @dominicmadori for the amazing coverage.

There are only a few things I have been committed to for multiple decades, and among them: #poetry. I was 14 years old when I began competing in Poetry Slams. The first time I competed was at @provslam at @as220providence . They hadn't even finished renovating the new venue and were still working on the drywall and the lighting. The first time I performed in New York was at the @nuyoricanpoetscafe with @jivepoetic and @mobrowne . The room was packed and electric and brilliant. These rooms changed me. They helped put me on a path. As a #BlackandJewish kid from Rhode Island, they showed me the power of telling the truth so loudly that it can't be ignored. Poetry helped me love and accept myself. Now, 20 years later, I am honored to return to both of these venues this week to share new work and continue to cherish the power of words. I am feeling old. But I am filled with gratitude. Hope to see you there

“If you asked me, would I be a venture capitalist? I would have told you I have no idea what a venture capitalist is…” Although my younger self may not have seen this exact path for myself, my community, heritage, and art have all converged to guide me on this purpose of empowering underserved and underrepresented communities. Across all intersections of my life, community is what grounds me. From building a space for creatives and entrepreneurs at @blavity and @afro.tech to creating the first-ever Moishe House for Jews of color in L.A, and now launching @collidecapital to funnel dollars into leading, innovative companies led by diverse founders. Thanks to @gsdeutch and @JewishInsider for capturing my story as a Black Jewish poet, entrepreneur, and VC. Check out the full article to read about the work being done alongside partners like my co-founder @brian_hollins to continue to create opportunities for people who look like us. #collidecapital #collideonpurpose #founderinterview #poetryaaron #entrepreneur #blackandjewish #jewishinsider
