Weâve been working with @leedscouncil for the last three years, focusing on how to foster quality interactions between young children and their caregivers and enhance childhood development đ§ž
As part of our partnership, we launched Play Together, Talk Together â a series of seven colourful playful learning installations for parents and young children to enjoy together, designed by artists and play practitioners after community consultation with families in Leeds đš
Find out more about the installation at The Compton Centre Community Hub & Library in Harehills, a vibrant multi-agency hub offering a range of services. Link in bio đ

The weaving looms at Herbert Parkinson closed down in 2017, but their memory remains...
Staff told us of the soothing rhythm, like a heart beating in the centre of the mill, the smell of yarn fibres, oil and mist in the air, the vibrations through your feet... and the heartbreak that they are now gone.
An octagonal cloister at the heart of Blackburn Cathedral Crypt, allowed us to reimagine the missing heartbeat of the factory. The soothing, hypnotic rhythm of the looms.
Jess Wild @jessicajumpers edited our footage of @_.hannah_robson 's jaquard loom @universityofbradford and the dobby looms of Weisters Mill.
Buffalo Sound used sound recordings of the looms, to craft a beautiful, calming and rhythmic soundscape:
"We layered sounds of the loom with the aim of creating the sense of a mechanical body as heard from the womb, a heartbeart and lots of background processes going on, but soothing and reassuring. The same gentle synth is used to create a bed over which there are loops of the loom at various speeds and frequencies. The loom stop is used to created the 'heart beat' of the piece. The metal dollies and thread from the spools create high frequency textures over the pulse.â jon foulger @linswilsonmusic@snakearrows
North Light was commissioned by the National Festival of Making as part of their headline commissioning programme, Art in Manufacturing.

Weâre excited you can now take our soft sculpture home!
Handmade in small batches by us 𧔠đȘĄ
Our cloud-like forms are inspired by Poussinâs âSt Rita of Casciaâ
A soft sculpture with a weighted bottom, designed to hug into the contours of the body.
The smaller size can be cradled or nestled into the crook of the neck.
âMy Mother has dementia, she finds constant comfort and reassurance in holding her sensory cloud formâ.
The medium size is perfect to hold in comfort.
âMy 10 year old son is too cool for soft toys, but adores his sensory cloud. He hugs it whilst doing homework or watching TV, and takes it with us on long journeysâ.

Our sensory puddles are inspired by the flow and ripples of water, in paintings such as Canalettoâs âWalton Bridgeâ.
A calming, lavender scented, velvet puddle.
Can be rolled between palms, squeezed, stood on with bare feet, or laid on the chest in comfort.
âMy 11 year old child is autistic with sensory challenges. She loves her velvety little beanbag and says it reminds her of a dreamâ.

Our root form is inspired by the gnarled tree roots and split oaks which appear in several paintings, such as Kesselâs âA Wood near
The Hagueâ.
This sculptural form has gently weighted ends that create a pleasant compression when laid upon shoulders, back or lap.
It would also look great resting on a sofa.
âWhen I want some calm time, I think Iâll rest with itâ. Age 7
