Platform has been very lucky and grateful to become a local community café. We have been receiving lots of love from you all since we opened and some through difficult times these past two years! Recently, more people have been asking when our coffee course will return. We hear you, and we are very excited to announce that we will be starting our coffee courses again starting in June. We have re-designed the course and we are ready to share our love and knowledge of coffee to people who are interested in learning more!
Coffee Barista Training Course (Introductory level)
This course is an introductory level coffee course that is intended for people with no prior experience. The course will cover the origins and basic history of coffee to today’s trends around the world. The basic skills to becoming a Coffee Barista or simply a coffee lover who wants to learn how to appreciate coffee beverages. It doesn’t matter if you are a student, a coffee fanatic, or thinking about of becoming a barista, with no prior experience, you will leave knowing the fundamental basics of coffee and the techniques of making a good cup of coffee.

2. Basic history of coffee
3. Coffee profiles and tastes
4. Coffee growing / cultivation
5. Coffee processing methods around the world
6. Single origin vs Blends
7. Equipment
8. Different brewing methods
9. Espresso
10. Calibrating coffee
11. Latte art
12. Making common espresso-based drinks
Information:
a. Course duration: approximately 7-8 hours (split into 2 classes)
b. Course availability: Tuesdays (8am - 12pm; 1pm - 5pm)
c. Fee: CAD$400 + Taxes per person (minimum 2 people; maximum 4 people)
d. Includes: 2 classes (approximately 3.5 - 4 hours per class) and 1 bag of coffee beans (12oz)
e. Languages offer: English and Cantonese
f. Location: Platform Espresso Bar (4450 Highway 7 E. Unit #2, Unionville, ON, L3R 1M2)
g. Reservation: By appointment only
h. Requirement: Age 16 and above
I. Prerequisite: None
Cancellation / Refund policy: Non-refundable; Cancellation must be done a week before the class
