â¨Willicroft - Established 1957, Reimagined 2018, Reinvented..?
2024 was a tough year for Willicroft. After failing to meet our fundraising goals, we made the difficult decision to sell the company.
We came close to creating a self-sufficient business that balanced profitability with a positive impact but ultimately fell short. I take a great amount of heart in knowing that our recipes have found happy and trusted homes.
When starting Willicroft in my kitchen in 2018, I couldnât have predicted this journey. We created incredibly delicious products, worked alongside wonderfully gifted and conscious colleagues, brought Willicroft into retail in three countries, launched products in food service and industry, fought against huge contradictions in dairy-related language, became the highest-scoring B Corp in our categories (cheese and butter), and, most importantly, set out a clear path to net zeroâtackling some of our most pressing climate problems head-on with Mother Nature as our leader and compass.
It remains far too difficult for companies driving positive change in the food industry to thrive. My next steps are uncertain, but I am determined to confront this challenge head-on in the coming years.
There are far too many people to thank for the support weâve received over the past six years. Not least everyone who has followed our journey here. In one way or another, Iâve been influenced by all of these lived experiences, and for that, I am eternally grateful. If youâre reading this, you know who you areâthank you.
Recently, I said goodbye to this chapter of Willicroft by burying a small plaque in the Scottish Highlandsâmy grandparentsâ and my favorite place on this planet. Willicroft, in its current form, was meant to last far longer. Nonetheless, it has been an experience I will never forgetâone I feel privileged to have lived and one that has filled me with tremendous energy to build upon.
For now, itâs time to reflect and re-energize for what comes next which will undoubtedly be more purpose-led and purpose-centered adventures.

Laat de Media ondernemers hiervoor niet in de verdomhoek plaatsen, of bestempelen als âgefaaldâ, maar juist een podium geven aan het feit dat ze hun nek hebben uitgestoken en delen van de weg hebben geplaveid naar nieuwe innovaties en systemen: in dit geval een plantaardig-alternatief voor de zuivel-industrie.
Dit is niet perse altijd het einde, maar vaak juist een aangescherpt begin.Â

Shea butter is the biggest contributor to the productâs emissions, accounting for â46% of the total emissions.

We looked at the emissions of the Young Dutch individually and compared it to the dairy equivalent as well as plant-based competition. Here is what we found:
The Young Dutch is 7.5x lower in emissions than the dairy alternative.
It is also the lowest scoring plant-based product in that category.Â
Electricity from one of our suppliers accounts for almost one fifth of the productâs entire emissions (18%).Â
The Young Dutch contains 3-4x more protein and fibre than plant-based competition.
