🧘♀️💗One of the most amazing gifts I have experienced in the midst of a laser filled/ fire dancing/ Blacklight fashion/ DJ music festival was finally heading up the hill to experience Zendo Stereo by Leo Canneto. The lights are dim and you choose a mat, head phones and eye pillow to stop for an hour and go inside. Although I was quite aware of Leo and Zendo having both been actively doing our art thing as contributors to Planet V fest/ Burning Van for years (plus he walked in the fashion show and is always fabulously dressed and has a open & kind je ne sais quois mystique) 2024 was the first time I Zendo’ed. 🤩WOW! Spirit and heart opened with eyes closed! Thank you Leo- 🙏💗thank you so much for this music meditation. The world is wearing very heavy on me these days. Something you can do for yourself is go on SoundCloud and take a 1 hour break from it all!! 👯♀️Once upon a young Cait moved from NYC/ LA to a ranch in the middle of a vast valley in southwest Colorado. When I hit my max on cabin life I was taken to Telluride to meet “the most fabulous woman in America.” I sat down next to Catherine Frank and my whole life changed. I regaled her with tales of Burning Man, she gave me the definitive autobiography of Chanel. I can trace Catherine as the “wampeter” (read Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, the center of our karass) of so many of the most amazing moments of my life. I know the V community because of Catherine. She introduced me to Natalie and Jodie (and so many of my ultimate favorite humans on this planet). Her belief in me and my Lily Guilder art gave me early wings in believing in myself. Speaking of wings, she is the only person who has abducted me on multiple occasions on private planes to the wonderful adventures (“go get 2 bottles of champagne and meet me at the airport, but Catherine I have to work on my collection, did I stutter? Put one of those coats on and see what Aspen thinks, go get champagne!”) My drawer pizza connoisseur, On the long list of reasons why I love you- Your wit. The ease of your fabulousness. The way a conversation with you is like a waltz. Your mastery of your craft. The way that you connect with people. The way you share the beautiful love in your heart. How being in your spaces is an art experience. That includes being in your closet and seeing how you compose looks. You have true personal style. The adventures you have had and the subtle way you understand so many cultures……. I could keep going. When we are together our lights shine brightly and undeniably which makes being near us irresistible! Thank you for changing my life for the better year after year. I love you so much! 🥳Today is an ode to my friend Dan Gundrum. Watching Dan go deeper and deeper in his laser and lighting art/ science has been incredible!!! It takes a super intelligent person with determination both artistically and financially to figure out new ways to blow our minds with the laser canopy he created over our heads @planetvfest . I call V a micro dose of Burning Man. I think the lasers at the Burn are one of the most visceral ways I felt Burning Man my first year and Dan’s work transports me to that otherworldly place. In 2024 he made my Blacklight fashion show dreams come true! Over the last year we collaborated on a Lily Guilder coat “wrapped in lasers.” The FaceTimes were delightful- discussing the way light interacts vs how the fabric could be fastened so he can dance and comfortably do his tech in his piece. I have the feeling this coat will always be a work in progress, the process cemented our friendship and he even came to Oshkosh twice for fittings and to dazzle my local community with a laser show during the April fashion show.
