🥳Today is an ode to my friend Dan Gundrum. Watching Dan go deeper and deeper in his laser and lighting art/ science has been incredible!!! It takes a super intelligent person with determination both artistically and financially to figure out new ways to blow our minds with the laser canopy he created over our heads @planetvfest . I call V a micro dose of Burning Man. I think the lasers at the Burn are one of the most visceral ways I felt Burning Man my first year and Dan’s work transports me to that otherworldly place. In 2024 he made my Blacklight fashion show dreams come true! Over the last year we collaborated on a Lily Guilder coat “wrapped in lasers.” The FaceTimes were delightful- discussing the way light interacts vs how the fabric could be fastened so he can dance and comfortably do his tech in his piece. I have the feeling this coat will always be a work in progress, the process cemented our friendship and he even came to Oshkosh twice for fittings and to dazzle my local community with a laser show during the April fashion show.
