We’re noticing a shift. Learning is leaving the building- literally. More and more, the most interesting education isn’t happening in lecture halls or behind tuition fees. It’s happening in converted spaces, collectives, and communities built by people who decided the barriers to entry were a design flaw, not a feature.
A Center for Research was born from this exact understanding. Co-founded by Ana Nicolaescu and Sebastian Tiew, it exists as something outside of a single institution — it’s a practice sitting between architecture and media, a publishing and design research project, a curation platform, and a residency programme all at once.
More importantly, it’s a deliberate experiment in what research can look and feel like when it’s freed from academic frameworks entirely. The result? A growing programme of events supported by
@aavisiting_school that are open, curious, and happening all week long.
We’re so excited to be hosting some spaces on PLACE, so if you want to do something a little out of the ordinary next week, head to the link in bio!
