‘Milao’, the first single from my upcoming album is out now.
Milao is a reimagining of an Indian classical composition, approached through an ambient and experimental lens. The voice carries the piece, with subtle layers of synthesis.
In many way ‘Milao’ has been the initiation for this project that explores memory, time, and the shifting landscapes of belonging.

Field Notes - Presented by Leaf Society and funded by the City of Nanaimo, this event marks the culmination of the inaugural GROUNDWĒRK Movement Residency, a locally rooted, 10-week choreographic mentorship and creation initiative designed to support Nanaimo-based artists.
This year’s selected artists, Kian Cham and Priyanka Chakrabarti, have been deeply engaged in an exploratory movement-based process mentored by professional artists Geneviève Johnson and Samantha Letourneau.
GROUNDWĒRK residency includes paid support, mentorship, Mellow Drama Theatre studio access, training classes, and technical production guidance, removing common financial and logistical barriers to artistic growth. May 28 at 7:00 PM at Malaspina Theatre (Vancouver Island University)

Bringing raga-inspired vocals, electronics, and movement to our opening night: meet Piu (@piusings ).
A Vancouver-based vocalist, composer, and interdisciplinary artist anchored in Indian classical training and pulled towards the frontiers of experimental and electronic music.
Piu has performed at major Canadian electronic music festivals including MUTEK Montréal, has performed with groups like Absolute Unit, and collaborates widely with artists across genres and continents.
Now, she will be performing at Indian Summer 2026 opening night.

Artist Feature📣✨
Priyanka Chakrabarti (Piu) @piusings is a musician, composer, and producer who adorns ambient soundscapes with hard hitting synth riffs, raga-inspired vocals, and global rhythms. Her sound blends genres, cultures, and identities. Through both her studio practice and live performance, Piu invites listeners into carefully constructed sonic spaces designed for reflection, release, and intentional listening.
Anchored in her Indian classical training but pulled towards the frontiers of experimental and electronic music, Piu’s sound is simultaneously grounded and unbound. Her productions weave tactile synth textures, and field recordings, moving fluidly between genres.
Piu has released several singles, an EP, *Illusion* (2024), and her debut full-length album will be released in Summer 2026. She has performed at major Canadian electronic music festivals including MUTEK Montréal, and collaborates widely with artists across genres and continents.
She is also the co-founder of @marginsofsound where she helps produce and curate events that support experimental music, interdisciplinary performances, and education in British Columbia, Canada
