“Angel 6,” out today on @bandcamp , marks my first official music release, alongside @mark_grusane with @disctechno_music . Somewhere between ritual and resurrection, the warehouse and the confessional - this track represents the dawning of light after a long, dark age.
Already drawn to Mark’s darker, dissonant cuts, I was ecstatic when he sent over a demo after chatting about collaboration a few times at @gramaphonerecords . Mark’s production met with my writing and vocals became the seed of a creative bond - a conjuring and a fever dream, shaped by mutual intuition and the underground.
This day not only marks my first release, but also the 6 year anniversary of my mother’s passing, who was born 6/6/63. Though the angel in this song does not refer to her specifically, embarking on a new creative era in her honour feels like a celebration of her life, and a new beginning in mine.
“Angel 6” is out today on Bandcamp and will hit all major streaming platforms soon ✨ link in bio

As autumn is arrogantly stamping it’s feet my mind hasn’t quite settled into the idea of cold, especially when I’m very connected to places where it still feels like summer. But the clouds are here and I must make friends with them, as I have made friends with distance, making it therefore feel closer and sunnier.
Eugenio Montale was an Italian poet and Nobel prize for literature laureate who had to walked on the edge of a very fine line during fascism in Italy and ultimately was punished by the regime. He thought poetry could only really speak of “that which we are not”. It makes me think of his contemporary, Karl Popper, who’s philosophy of science was centred about establishing that which is demonstrably not true. Both lived turbulent times of dictatorship and with all that we see around the world, and all the false ideals and false information, it would be a great point around which to unite; that which we do not want to be, that which we do not wish to happen.
The incredible @pavelanuska … part of the phase transition series.
The dodecahedron is the more mystical of the Platonic solids, representing “aether” which was believed to be the substance of which the heavens are made. Quintessence, the fifth element, is another term for it. It was also the name given in the 90s to a cosmological model describing a form of dark energy responsible for the acceleration of the expansion of the universe.
Whether you see a source of light or darkness, a unifying symmetry is intrinsic to its properties and soothing to the soul, a fundamental symmetry of all living forms.
It feels almost like a truism but it’s quite important to realise its significance. Since my exhibition I’ve felt a little creatively under productive. Probably all people who thrive on creative output have similar periods, and should forgive themselves for it. The mind is never dry, sometimes ideas exist in the form of vapour and all it needs is a surface on which the vapour can condense.
Travelling many times to and from my “Phase Transitions” exhibition made me discover an incredible second hand book shop in Petersfield. It doesn’t look much from the outside, but walking in an entire galaxy opens up. I was reflecting that what happens after an exhibition is a lot like what happens to the books in that shop, many just gather dust, they simply exist as either a bright or a dim star within a distant constellation. Each and every one of those books, in the moment of its creation, was a burning ball of energy for those who were close to it, and the energy may fade and disperse, but a trail of light might one day hit the viewing instrument of a distant observer, so however dim, it’s important that that light was created.
And I once again am so grateful to @inspectionpit.uk@katy_vetch@phoebejaneahern@bitchvetch and of course @alexvonhesse for giving me the opportunity to produce some light.
