Santa Cruz Wharf - 12.23.24 . The Monterey Bay was hit with some massive swells, causing the very end of the wharf to break away. Thankfully this part of the wharf was closed to the public and the three construction workers that were on it all were safely rescued. I was at the studio editing when a friend sent me a message saying something was happening at the wharf, so I jumped on my onewheel and headed down the Riverwalk towards the ocean. West Cliff Sunrise - 12.5.24 . Swipe right to see the full image! I was driving north on Highway 1 well before the sunrise and couldn’t help but notice the colors intensifying in my rear view mirror. I detoured from my normal commute to the studio and headed straight to one of my favorite locations in Santa Cruz. I sent my Mavic 3 Cine up with the GND filter and started capturing the colorful scene. Capitola Winter - 11.24.24 . A beautiful evening between rainy days over the Capitola Village. I was on my way home from running errands and couldn’t ignore the beautiful light, so I veered off the highway and lunched my Mavic 3 Cine from above the village. 360° Seacliff Sunset - 8.2.24 . A double rainbow and spectacular sunset in one evening was quite a surprise! These two photos were taken less than 5 minutes apart. While there was quite a bit of rain, I’ve never seen a rainbow with such unique colors, or as high in the sky. Happy 100! . The Giant Dipper turned 100 and the @beachboardwalk threw a party to celebrate! Here are a few photos from the awesome firework show that capped off the day. . These were taken with my @djiglobal Mavic 3 Cine and a grad ND filter. There were at least five other drones in the air and countless photographers with tripods just in the park that I flew from. It was a bit of a challenge to stay clear of everyone and get the angles I wanted, but with enough patience, we all danced around the scene and got our shots. 1.3.24 - Calm after the storm . It was a very moody evening at Seacliff Beach. There were occasional rain showers and lots of fast moving clouds, which made for quite a beautiful sunset. The storm that came through last week washed a bit of the beach away, revealing the old seawalls about half way down the beach. These were originally damaged back in the storms of 1927, just before the cement ship was brought to Seacliff in 1930. 1.2.24 - The Giant Dipper . This was one of the most intense sunrises I’ve seen in years! I’ve been wanting to capture more recent photos of the @beachboardwalk #giantdipper as 2024 marks its 100th anniversary. This is a composite image made of from 3 AEB captures from my Mavic 3 Cine using a grad ND. . Here’s the wiki brief on the coaster: The Giant Dipper is a historic wooden roller coaster located at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, an amusement park in Santa Cruz, California. 123123 - Lake Tahoe Sunrise . Happy New Year!! The last sunrise of 2023 was beautiful, but cold! @angalima and I spent the weekend up in Tahoe and had a wonderful time relaxing, eating some amazing meals and exploring some awesome hiking trails. I captured this just before sunrise when the outside temp was 26 degrees. The first image is a 5 shot panorama stitched and edited in Lightroom. The 2nd image was captured about 15 minutes later, after the sun had peaked over the mountains, illuminating the cloud over the lake.
