⚠️ We are advising caution and awareness regarding travel on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway (MD-295).
The BW Parkway is a federal road, which means it is primarily patrolled by the U.S. Park Police (USPP).
USPP is allowing ICE agents to ride along with them when they make traffic stops on the parkway.
Due to federal cooperation agreements:
* USPP can initiate a routine traffic stop.
* The stop may be quickly transferred to ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement).
* This means a minor violation could lead to questions about immigration status or detention.
SEE A DETENTION TAKING PLACE?
Contact the MSMA and CASA hotlines to report detentions, active checkpoints, & ICE sightings.

Busy weekend! Thank you everyone for all of your help…175 bags of groceries to ICE impacted families, 30 to a local school, and a market for a local ESOL students! PLUS, thanks to @jakeya_hq for every mom on our list!
Every week we are amazed by the generosity of the communities in the Rt 1. corridor and beyond. You folx are AMAZING! This doesn’t work without every donation, every like, every share, and every time you tell a friend.
This Mother’s Day, we honor the mothers carrying the unimaginable weight of separation, detention, deportation and uncertainty. 💔🌹
To the moms whose loved ones were taken into ICE detention, to the mothers forced to continue holding their families together alone, and to the mothers who themselves are currently sitting inside detention centers today, we see you, we honor you, and we stand with you.
No mother should have to spend Mother’s Day separated from her children or family because of detention and deportation. Yet even through fear, grief, and exhaustion, so many of you continue to lead your families with strength, love, and resilience. Your courage does not go unseen. Your love continues to hold families together across walls, distance, and pain. ❤️
Today and every day, we are sending love to all migrant mothers and all families impacted by detention.
💜 Support a Mom Alone With 3 Kids Expecting Baby in August
Rosa is pregnant, due in August, with three kids ages 15, 14 and 5. On April 24, her husband, Jose, was taken by ICE on his way to work. Rosa was taking their three kids to school when they got the call that he had been detained, and in an instant the life they had built for their family was forever changed. Jose was quickly sent to a Louisiana detention center, and has since been deported to Guatemala. The family now finds itself without the love and support from Jose, who was the sole breadwinner. They are struggling to cover their basic necessities—food, rent, utilities, etc. This is especially difficult as Rosa is preparing to welcome a new baby. Please help this family cover expenses for the next three months.

@pg_irc , @moco_irc and @rt1mutualaid food drive success! Every week we hold three separate food drives across PG and MOCO, rallying our incredible community to provide essential groceries and diapers for 150 families—all with children and all navigating the impacts of losing a family member to ICE.
This week was extra special! Our volunteers distributed Mother’s Day gift bags to honor the resilient moms in our program. 🌸
A huge thanks to Indivisible and Route 1 Mutual Aid for bringing food and making this event happen.
We do this because we refuse to let our neighbors be forgotten. We do this to prove that when families are impacted, our community doesn’t just watch—we rally. We show up to ensure no one is left behind and to provide the tangible help that every family deserves.
Huge thanks to the 85+ volunteers who stepped up this weekend to make this happen!

Tintype bookings for Saturday 5/9 at Red Dirt’s Open Studio Tours were full, but two spots opened up again (1:20pm, 3:20pm). Link in my bio. For a $75 donation, I will take your portrait directly onto a metal plate in my 100+ year old camera with a lens from 1862, Civil War era if you’re counting. I don’t practice this for old-timey vibes, I intentionally choose the best combination of technology to make technically stunning and expressive photographic artifacts.
