Our community is showing up for each other 💗 As we increase the number of families we are supporting, we need you with us. We’re organize weekly regional food drives to support immigrant families navigating incredibly difficult moments. Food is one of the most immediate ways we can show care, stability, and solidarity. 🗣️ This is Mark. He is one of our wonderful MoCo IRC and FAIR student leaders, He’s 17 years old. And he should never have had to give this speech. Last month, Mark’s father was taken by ICE in Montgomery County. Overnight, his life changed, his family was torn apart, and he was forced to grow up faster than any young person should. 16 May Mutual Aid Update: Our weekly food drives across Prince George’s and Montgomery County are fully volunteer operated. This week, volunteers successfully provided essential groceries and diapers to 150 local families, each navigating the difficult reality of losing a family member to ICE. For over a year, I have been blest to be able to come together with members of my communities in the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia area to support our neighbors, promote justice and peace, comfort those in grief, uplift one another in victories, care for the suffering, and to intentionally build and strengthen our unity. Long-established national and regional organizations like @casa4all and groups of all sizes like @rapidresponsechoir , @moco_irc , and @indivisiblert1 which have formed in the midst the of the multiple crises which have risen in 2025 and 2026 have allowed citizens, people of faith, advocates, organizers, and everyday folks to take real action for good in many ways. From creativity and music to touch weary souls at demonstrations and in the streets to mutual aid, ICE watch, and accompaniment of those in need to legal fights against detention centers in our state and emergency international trips to stand with those our federal government has kidnapped … WE have not been moved in our shared commitment to being the best human family we can nor shaken up in our patriotic duty to demand our governments, elected officials, our military, and our fellow citizens carry out the highest ideals of our nation — especially the rights and obligations with flow from the Constitution of the United States. Sadly, the need for these efforts has only increased as so many have rallied to respond day after day, month after month. Thankfully, because of the talents and sacrifice of brave Americans and comrades, a renewed and growing infrastucture of civic organizations and networks has been nurtured and we have a clear vision of how to effectively resist injustice and co-create a better society even in the face of other movements which intentionally seek to divide us through hate and cruelty as they opportunistically try to plunder our common good, destroy our institutions, wipe away our hard-won protections, and remake America and the world in the nightmare of humanity’s world moral failings. #WeSHALLNOTbeMoved #WEshallOVERCOME #SolidarityForever #SomosUnidos #SiSePuede

Busy weekend! Thank you everyone for all of your help…175 bags of groceries to ICE impacted families, 30 to a local school, and a market for a local ESOL students! PLUS, thanks to @jakeya_hq for every mom on our list! Every week we are amazed by the generosity of the communities in the Rt 1. corridor and beyond. You folx are AMAZING! This Mother’s Day, we honor the mothers carrying the unimaginable weight of separation, detention, deportation and uncertainty. 💔🌹 To the moms whose loved ones were taken into ICE detention, to the mothers forced to continue holding their families together alone, and to the mothers who themselves are currently sitting inside detention centers today, we see you, we honor you, and we stand with you. No mother should have to spend Mother’s Day separated from her children or family because of detention and deportation. Yet even through fear, grief, and exhaustion, so many of you continue to lead your families with strength, love, and resilience. Your courage does not go unseen. Your love continues to hold families together across walls, distance, and pain. ❤️ Today and every day, we are sending love to all migrant mothers and all families impacted by detention.
