Introducing the 4A BSKT – my first folding basket prototype, field tested in the forests of Bhutan.
Built for modern foragers and outdoor explorers who never know when they may need a sturdy basket to hand, the 4A BSKT blends technical design with rugged utility: 🟧 Black + orange ripstop shell – lightweight yet tough enough for the wild. 📦 Foldable flat-pack design – packs down slim when you don’t need it. 🌬️ Breathable mesh base – lets mushrooms drop spores + keeps your finds fresh. 🎒 Customisable straps – carry it your way. 🪖 Metal frame sewn inside – adds structure + durability without bulk. 🔒 Custom-engineered lockable steel hinge – keeps the basket rigid and open, no accidental folding shut.
This is just the beginning – more to follow. Big thanks to everyone who’s helped on this silly idea of mine. Who would carry this on the next adventure?

A recent identity project for @vochlea new product Dubnote.
Inspired by the raw energy of DIY music culture, I created a brand language that amplifies the spontaneity of live performance and underground creativity. Custom typography, bold colour blocking, and lo-fi textures come together to echo the tactile nature of sound production.

Just finished a mycelium project for @wildnutritionltd .
They got in touch and asked me to design and grow a series of mycelium grown blocks to promote their 'Food-Grown' range of natural supplements.
I love working with mycelium, watching it grow and take on a life of it's own. The colours always surprise me, no two blocks are ever the same.
Shout out to Craig @marvellousmushrooms for help with the substrate.

Peter Roden is a multidisciplinary designer born and based in London and a BA (Hons) graduate of the London College of Communication. With a diverse portfolio spanning print, digital, environmental, and 3D design, Peter leverages a broad skill set in visual identity design and art direction for brands and individuals, campaigns, marketing, environmental graphics, product design, packaging, and wayfinding.
Driven by a passion for sustainable design, Peter’s work often explores the intersection of nature and technology. His fascination with fungi, foraging, and mushrooms has deeply influenced his approach to materials and design processes. This interest is evident in projects like Fungal Flourishes, where he utilized mycelium to create typographic ornament tiles, reflecting his commitment to sustainable and experimental materials.
Peter’s innovative approach extends to his current role at the helm of Leighton Space, a design studio that embodies his vision for integrating ecological consciousness with cutting-edge design. By continually pushing the boundaries of traditional design, Peter aims to create work that is not only visually compelling but also environmentally responsible.

🍄🖋️❇️ Super excited to share our project Fungal Flourishes, a relief ornament collection made entirely of mycelium during our residency at LCC. Our design duo’s shared fascination for fungi sparked an on-going exploration between the graphic language of organic ornaments and sustainable materiality.
Inspired by the interconnected nature of fungi, our project bridged multiple workshops from letterpress, glyph design, to 3D modelling and vacuum forming. A reflection of how nature is constantly happening as a series of transformations rather than a collection of individual specimens.
Our choice to grow our glyphs into mycelium connected our inspiration back to its raw origin, creating a full-circle moment. Working with this entirely compostable material brought us closer to the traces we leave when producing a physical outcome and question the sustainability of the typical A to B journey in design. Fungal Flourishes is about introducing a cyclical, alternative design model that will disintegrate in order to give birth to life again.
This project couldn’t have happened without the precious guidance and support of our residency coordinators Monica and Ian from @gmdlcc . Our suppliers @grown_bio who provided us with their quality mycelium. Our friend @spike_tm who shared his expertise in 3D modelling with us to print our designs right. Our guest lecturers @theohersey and @materialsassemble for sharing their respective practice in letterpress and sustainable materials with us during their workshops. The brilliant technicians Andrew and Ruth @letterpress.workshop for welcoming us back into the unmatchable letterpress facilities. The GMD students for showing their enthusiasm in the workshops and assisting us in producing our outcome.
