Here are more photos of a recent new piece in the Cleft cabinet series to be shown at Design Miami with Sarah Myerscough Gallery. Photos here include process images from the workshop of respected Japanese craftsman Tadanori Tozawa, my long time valued collaborator for this ongoing series (arigato, sensei :) The section of trunk was carefully chosen to avoid any twists to emphasise the book matched design, and stands at over 3.2 metres tall. Cleft 46 (Maki) will be on show at Design Miami from 6-10th December. Side note, the gentleman in the photograph is Tadanori's father Chuzo Tozawa, the founder of the respected company Hinoki Kougei with whom I have had the fortune to work with since 2012 thanks to the initiative of @japan_creative . #designmiami

I'm very happy to announce that my project Make/Shift has been acquired for the permanent collection of the Vitra Design Museum, in Germany. The prototypes (1 of 2) were created for my Royal College of Art graduation show in 2006. /make-shift Many thanks to Sophie Lovell for helping find these a home :)

A4 Light A sheet of A4 paper was left outside. Rain soaked the paper with droplets of water. The sun dried the droplets, freezing it into a deformed rigid three dimensional state. A blank empty sheet records the physical world. Two dimensions becomes three. NYC Design Week: I’m very happy to be taking part in the group show ‘Dudd Lite’ during NYC Design Week. We’re proud to announce Peter Marigold (@petermarigold ) as part of Cluster Crafts: 10 Years at the Roca London Gallery. A London-based designer and maker, Peter’s practice moves fluidly between sculpture, product, and furniture design - driven by material experimentation, adaptive making, and an ongoing curiosity for process. From collectible design to globally recognised innovations such as FORMcard, his work continues to challenge how objects are made, used, and experienced. His pieces are held in major international collections including the V&A and Vitra Design Museum, and he is represented by Sarah Myerscough Gallery. Alongside the exhibition, Peter will also join our panel discussion GROUNDED IN MATERIAL, exploring materials and responsible production in contemporary craft and design. 📍 @rocalondongallery 📅 21 May – 17 June 🎤 Panel Talk: 27 May 🎟 RSVP for the exhibition & talk via link in bio.

As part of Cluster Crafts: 10 Years at the @rocalondongallery , join us for a special panel discussion: GROUNDED IN MATERIAL - A Discussion on Materials and Responsible Production in Crafts and Design 27 May I 6:30–7:30 PM I at @rocalondongallery 🎟 Limited seats available - reserve via link in bio. Join us for an evening of conversation with: Gilda Bruno (@_gilbruno ) — Moderator Gareth Neal (@garethnealfurniture ) Peter Marigold (@petermarigold ) Sarah Myerscough (@sarahmyerscoughgallery ) Marking 10 years of Cluster, this conversation explores material-led practices in contemporary craft and design, with a focus on how artists engage deeply with materials as a starting point for making. In dialogue with the exhibition, it considers evolving relationships with materials and what responsible production looks like in craft and design today. The discussion will also examine the relationship between artists and gallerists, and how collaboration and shared values influence how work is made and supported. Bringing together two artists and their gallerist, the panel reflects on how material-driven practices operate within both studio and gallery contexts today. Part of our 10-year anniversary exhibition celebrating the future of contemporary craft. Special thanks to our curator and producer @gigimeacci , and our partners @rocalondongallery and @landartcollective !

Well, I’ve learned my lesson. If you want people to understand your new project, don’t post pictures of women’s underwear as the introductory image. So, to be clear. I’ve created a website dedicated to fan films, and it’s suddenly taken off, so I thought I should try and point you to it again. I love the DIY world in all shapes and sizes and fan made films are part of this. When my kids were young and obsessed with Star Wars, we'd spend hours trawling YouTube trying to find great fan films — with wildly mixed results. No way to filter, no way to know what was worth watching, just a giant soup of people running around with lightsabres, then we stumbled across one particular film called Birth of a Monster (the backstory of the Rancor monster) and were completely wowed. Never one to leave a problem unsolved, I considered why it was so difficult to simply find and filter all these films? Why is there no central repository that can be ordered and searched easily. So I decided to create an archive for them all and it’s accompanying instagram profile @fanfilmempire It was something of a personal experiment using Claude.ai and some python script to download clips. And I think it works pretty well. I launched it three weeks ago, and it’s gone a bit crazy with the Star Wars community, so I thought it would be a good moment to come back here and explain that my first post about this was NOT about women’s underwear, but rather about my deep interest in collecting and how different collections resonate with different people. It’s not furniture, but I’m really proud of this project, and it seems like Star Wars fans appreciate it. So, check out possibly my weirdest side project to date @fanfilmempire and and let me know what you think, and please do rate and review the films, there are some absolute gems on there😊 End note: I’m not actually that into Star Wars! But I do like collecting… #FanFilmEmpire #StarWarsFanFilm #DIYFilmmaking #IndependentFilm #MakerCommunity #StarWarsCommunity #FanFilmmaker #SciFiFilm #MovieArchive #FilmCuration #PassionProject #SideProject #CreativeProject #Collectors

Are you into Star Wars? I would like to share a new project I’ve been working on. Sometimes it feels weird to admit that you’re interested in making things that don’t look much like what you normally do, but maybe this is even more honest than the things that I think I should be making. I’ve always been a collector. Since I was very young I used to have my eyes glued to the floor as I would walk along looking for interesting objects. I used to keep these in ice-cream boxes labelled ‘odds and ends’ and it’s never really stopped. I guess some people will know that I have a large collection of imperfect objects. They’re not factory rejects, they are rare objects that have arrived to the consumer in an imperfect state, slipping through quality control and upon examination offering giveaway signs as to how they have been made. Conjoined jelly babies, barky pegs, threadless nude screws, deformed pint glasses and a (favourite) magnetic-less magnet (thanks, @sato_hisao_workbox ). Ooops - instagram word limit reached, I'll continue in the comments...
