An amazing #artistconversation with @designbyvaleriya today for lunch. NMTAFE’s Graphic Design program was pleased to welcome Valeriya Chernova for a ‘design-focused’ Conversation with Artists talk. As a recent Letterpress Artist-in-Residence, Valeriya delivered a highly engaging session that clearly met the intended learning outcomes and provided outstanding professional development for both students and staff. Her talk functioned as a timely, ‘just-in-time’ masterclass for students about to commence RISOGRAPH, equipping them with practical insights into colour layering, workflow, and embracing the quirks of the process. Staff also benefited from the session, gaining valuable technical and creative perspectives to share within their own teaching practice. Valeriya unpacked her residency and creative approach, highlighting: Letterpress & Risograph — process, experimentation, and materiality Designing the RISOGRAPH Sample Book — from concept to a shared learning resource Creative Workflow Evolution — adapting practice through time, constraint, and life changes Importantly, the session reinforced the value of play, testing, and discovery — not only for students developing new technical skills, but for staff as an essential part of maintaining contemporary, responsive teaching practice. @gallerycentralperth @northmetrotafe @perthletterpressworkshop #risograph

Very grateful for the time spent rummaging through @brightpress_ #woodtype draws to celebrate International Pie Day (3.14) AND pre-Metric Type High Day (23.3)!
