Aude Van Wyller & Lucy Van - MATERIAL Permanent Draft, 2026 Disorientingly transitive example of sound poem experimentation from Oi Les Ox’s Aude Van Wyller and Lucy Van, a former associate of Laila Sakini on that similarly great Figures LP from nearly 10 (!) years ago. MATERIAL presents as a true product of collaboration, Van Wyller’s fragmented production, built from fractured loops and palimpsestic field recordings, the ideal frame for Van’s text, which seems to explore interconnected thoughts around urban space, dissolving time and the human subject amidst it. Such pursuits can frequently translate as overly academic, solipsistic or abstruse to the point of incomprehension, but that’s far from the case here, with something mysteriously inviting about their pairing, a confluence of unexpected melody and strange observation emergent from the intistial ooze that proves both alien and somehow warm. This is the music of the vibrating city and how we move alongside it. Highly recommended for anyone who’s found worth in M. Klein & Steffan de Turck’s A New City, The Dengie Hundred’s work with Gemma Blackshaw or Hiele Kinsella’sThird Summer of Love. Edition of 200 w/ beautiful embossed sleeve & 56 page photo book. Karen Willems is a Belgian drummer percussionist active in various fields. Started as a drummer in rock and pop bands. With a number of musicians she built up a tradition within improvised music and sound art. Since 2020, with ‘TERRE SOL’ Willems is searching for personal modifications within her play of instruments and objects, with the focus on solo work and compositions. “When I make music, there’s no plan. I draw my inspiration from everyday life. Small encounters, people, and the greatest source, of course, is nature. There we find all the beauty, all the sounds we need. With my solo work I try to stay far away from my familiar drum set. Only then I can create a special universe. Eccentricity and playfulness go hand in hand with exercises in tension and release, and calls for connection in antisocial times. It’s difficult in this world obsessed with productivity and results, and you really have to be crazy to release music these days. So ‘A Fool’s Guide to Reality’ is a fitting title.” Karen Willems A Fool’s Guide to Reality, LP, release 3th October 2025 400 copies on black vinyl with b/w reverse board cover. Valentina Magaletti & Fanny Chiarello - Gym Douce Permanent Draft, 2025 A seemingly spontaneous new EP from Permanent Draft that brings together label founders Valentina Magaletti and Fanny Chiarello in a dream-like collage of fragmented polyglot sound. Across seven miniatures, the pair traverse some ground, uniting abstracted spoken word, submerged field recordings, alien electronics, minimal piano and Magaletti’s signature polyrhythms. The short run time betrays the range of ideas on show, and you could easily make the case for any one of these tracks to be doubled in length, such is the restless, explorative spirit that underpins the entire affair. Let’s call it maximalism in miniature, a brain dump of ideas barely around long enough to fully process, where somewhat ironically it’s the choices they didn’t make that leave you wondering. In the age of excess, there’s something to be said for the short form impulse. Still, knowing the history of its creators, it’s hard to imagine them stopping here. Watch this space... Low edition of 200. FFO: V/Z, Klara Lewis, Cucina Povera, Lucrecia Dalt // @permanent_draft @valentina_magaletti

Marie De la Nuit - Transportées Permanent Draft, 2025 Highly disorientating but utterly engaging sound design verite from Marie Guérin under her assumed de la Nuit sobrioquet, which maps her fitful passage through Brittany, Germany and Tunisia. Local voices cut in an out, sometimes in indigenous song, sometimes abstracted beyond comprehension, intersecting with the manipulation of an array of field recordings that are often trance-like in their arrangement. Guérin in part describes her practice as ‘documentary’, and there is certainly a sense of something of the wider world being recorded here, of its ebbs and flows, of its langauge and expression, and, ultimately, whether observed or otherwise, its persistent fecundity. Might we call this Abstract Ethnography? It does seem to aptly capture Guérin’s intentions quite well, to map, reflect and celebrate polyglot oral traditions and the distinct sound worlds they create. Struggling to think of another record it closely resemebles, which likely tells us that Transportées works best through telling its own specific story of the worlds it’s encountered. LIN IN BIO♥️Marie Guérin (aka Marie de la Nuit) is a sound artist. Since 2001, she has been manipulating field recordings, radio archives, traces left on the airwaves by « hertzian ghosts ». « . A mixture of voices, textures, grains, anecdotal sounds, her work questions the sound heritage, its supports and the traces left on these supports; her music passes from radiophonic grammar to music. — « Transportées is an electroacoustic work. From archaic to electronic trance, a musical thread runs from Brittany to Tunisia. We follow a trance-like path through recordings, traces of oral traditions. At the root of this composition is my taste for archives and my fascination with songs that have been captured, recorded and fixed. With my microphones, I follow a documentary and musical path that, between Brittany, Germany and Tunisia, crosses the first sound recordings fixed on flat discs, oral transmission, the energy of the return to the homeland and a K7. On this K/, a mother passes on an endangered repertoire to her son, who records it. Transportées starts with this K7. » Marie Guérin 300 copies on black vinyl with b/w reverse board cover.
