We are thrilled to have won the Best Children's Chinese Language Book at the Singapore Book Awards last night for the Chinese edition of 'The Little Singapore Book'! So grateful for one of the best teams I've ever worked with--Sok Koon (editor), Chen Shuang (translator), me & Joy and our illustrator Chloe. The hard work was worth it. Never thought our journey with 'The Little Singapore Book' started 10 years ago would still give us wings ten years on. 😍

We are so privileged to have given a talk this morning at the Changi Chapel Museum in conjunction with International Women's Day. Talking about 'Women at War', author Mdm Si Hoe SS spoke to a full house for over an hour about her experience during World War II in Singapore as a young girl. She talked about how resourceful women had to be in taking care of their families when food and medicine was scarce, when life diced with life and death every day, when they risked violent punishment from the Japanese while trying to keep their homes safe, when they had to show strength in the face of fear as they brought up their children. We are grateful for all who spent their morning with us today, and to @changichapelmuseum for organising this! ❤️ Our 92 year old author was kept busy signing her books ('The House on Palmer Road' & 'The House on Silat Road) before and after the talk. 😃 #lestweforget🌹 #childrensbookauthor #singlit #sghistory #wwiihistory

A delayed post of our evening at the Singapore Book Awards, celebrating our win of the Best Children's Chinese Language Book for The Little Singapore Book Chinese edition. This was Pepper Dog Press's first (and only, to date) Chinese title, and we had a great team working with us. Chloe, who illustrated those fabulous pages, Chen Shuang, who translated it, and Chua Sok Koon, our Chinese editor. Thank you for all the hard work, Ladies! @chloethefungi @sokkoonchua @joyseetully

We have just rolled out the 5th print run of 'The House on Silat Road'. This time, we added some bonus content, including a short interview with author Si Hoe SS, a.k.a. the 'real Sing' (including an extra story), and a photo of the actual house on Silat Road that her father built. Since we released this book in 2018, we have reprinted it in 2021, 2023, 2024 and now in 2026. Thanks for loving and embracing this story all these years. ❤️❤️ #childrensbooks #bookforkids #singlit #singaporehistory #kidssg

Sharing some candid shots taken yesterday of Ee Waun, and her co-author/mother and World War II survivor Si Hoe S.S. being interviewed at the Changi Chapel Museum. It was mainly 92 year old Mdm Si Hoe who did most of the talking, as she shared her wartime experience as a 9 year old. Imagine learning first hand at that age what an aerial bomb and artillery sounded like, and how it felt to be in a bomb shelter as bombs fell overhead. This was her experience, and in sharing it, we think it really had a impact on the crew who were listening. Mdm Si Hoe, at 92 years old, is now one of the few remaining voices who can share about their lived experience in World War II Singapore. Her memory is amazingly detailed. They do this not just for the books they wrote, but more importantly, are driven by a sense of mission to keep the memory of our wartime experience, and all those who lived through it, alive. Lest we forget. They will be speaking in a moderated conversation called 'Women At War' this Saturday in conjunction with International Women's Day at: Venue: The Changi Chapel Museum Date: 7 March, Saturday Time: 10am - 12pm Details: https://www.heritage.sg/changichapelmuseum/whats-on/programmes/2026_03---women-at-war Come join us if you can. It is one of those rare occasions when Mdm Si Hoe makes an appearance. If you want to meet the 'real Sing' from our books 'The House on Silat Road', please come along! #singaporeauthors #supportlocalsg #sgparents #sgmummy #singlit #SingaporeHistory #SGBooks #singapore #WWII #singaporehistory #Battleforsingapore @ee_waun

JOIN US THIS SATURDAY 7 March at the Changi Chapel Museum for a cosy conversation with World War II survivor and author, 92-year-old Si Hoe SS, and author Sim Ee Waun. This is a rare opportunity to meet Mdm Si Hoe in person who will share her first hand experiences about living in Japanese Occupied Singapore, from hiding in their home-made air raid shelter as the battle of Singapore raged, to the end of war when leaflets fell across the island announcing Japan's surrender. 'Women at War' is a talk in conjunction with International Women's Day. Saturday, 7 March 2026, 10am, at the Changi Chapel Museum. #authortalk #history #battleforsingapore #singaporehistory @changichapelmuseum @reflectionsatbukitchandu

Visited CHIJ Kellock for the first time, and shared with the P5's all about our WWII titles 'The House on Silat Road' and 'We Shall Remember'. They saw what the actual house and the characters looked like in real life (from old family photos) and hopefully see that great adventures do happen here at home in Singapore. The girls were excited that Silat Road (yes, it does actually exist) is just round the corner from their school, barely 500m away. 😃 And a bonus, we got to hang out for a while with Denise who was actually hard at work. 😃💪 Thanks @chijkellockig for having me at your library! It was such fun to talk with the girls! 🥰 #authortalk #childrensbooks #booksforkids #kidsbooks #childrensbookauthor

It was an intoxicating evening at the Singlit Preview yesterday, where Singapore publishers got together at The Chamber in the Arts House to give a sneak peek at what's in store for us this year, and to meet and mingle with other industries, from media and influencers to programmers and educators. Pepper Dog Press is immensely proud to be a co-organiser, along with the Arts House Group, @differenceenginesg @ethosbooks and @afterimage.press It was great to meet like minded people passionate over books and stories, and explore possible collaborations...and just to make new friends! Great things can happen when a community comes together with the best of intentions, yo share ideas, knowledge and opportunities. Plans are afoot to make this an annual event! 😃❤️ #singlit #books #singaporestories #publishers
