NEW RELEASE! Ten years after we released 'The Little Singapore Book', we are rolling out this much-loved title in Chinese and fully supported with hanyu pinyin! 小小新加坡故事书 presents the 700 years of Singapore's history to little readers, taking them from Sang Nila Utama's Temasek to the colonial period, to present day Singapore. Another enticing chapter introduces kids to a few neighbourhoods like Chinatown and Kampong Gelam, showing them what they were in the past and what they are now. It ends with a chapter about Singapore today, who we are and what live in the Lion City is all about. All this is accompanied by the gorgeously rich illustrations of Chloe Chang, who won Illustrator of the Year 2024 for her work in the English edition. Packed into 96 pages and in soft cover, 小小新加坡故事书 is translated by Chen Shuang and edited by Chua Sok Koon. Look out for it in bookstores very soon. This is also Pepper Dog Press's first book in Chinese.

👀📖 Panel Highlight: The Big Question – What Do Children Want to Read Anyway?
We talk a lot about getting kids to read, but what exactly should they read and what do they want to read? And how can we balance grown-up expectations, censorship and peer influence in the process? Join authors Hwee Goh (The Piano Adventures), Emily Lim-Leh (Little Hero) and Joyceline See Tully (Tiger Tales) as they dive headlong into this Big Question and share their specially curated booklists for ages one to tweens. 📚 📚
🗓 Saturday, 21 June
🕘 9:00AM – 10:00AM
📍 NAFA, Campus 2
🚦Buy a Day Pass, Festival Pass or a single-panel pass for this panel.

Wow, Let’s Party!
That’s the plan 🤩 for our opening panel at the Singapore Children’s Book Festival (9am, 21 June Sat, NAFA Campus 2)
I met Emily Lim-Leh and Joyceline See Tully today to put this together, and what an invigorating session it was.
Important questions we plan to discuss:
1) How to direct our young readers towards books and yet give them agency to discover stories themselves?
2) What are some sure-win #kidlit titles we can offer that will appeal to the young reader?
3) From both ends of the spectrum : how do we graduate a child from early readers to full length text? OR how do we move a tween reader up toward more complex reads?
4) Finally, there’s nothing more important than our own stories — let’s galvanize further on building #singlit #kidlit as storytellers.
Just today alone, I had my fill of stories from both Joy and Emily that you’d love too. Swipe to the last pic for event poster!
Mark your calendars for the weekend of 21/22 June — there’ll be bookish chats, workshops and book tables.
Bring your children and bring your bookish friends - registration details over at @sbpa.sg (there’s an early bird promotion for the very-decently-priced tickets! 🥳)
SEE YOU!!!
