This final volume from Alon Sariel enriches the Plucked Bach series with new colours: a further relative of the lute family (the Ottoman baÄlama) and a rare Tuscan-type mandola, whose octave-lower tuning lends Bachâs Third Cello Suite a dark, velvety resonance. The archlute, heard at the albumâs opening and close, frames the programme with quiet elegance, while Sarielâs touch reveals Bachâs writing to be both architecturally precise and profoundly tactile.

In a new series we'll be showing the most important highlights of Domselaer artists' programmes for the coming 26/27 season - starting this summer!
First off is @paddingtontrio , who will start the season off well with recording in the Netherlands of their long awaited debut album Freakshow with @pentatonemusic (release January 2027), and a performance at @beethovenfestivalzutphen this June.
In the fall they will tour throughout the UK - all dates and details to be announced soon. In February 2027 they will perform at @kammermusik_luzern and @museumskonzerte Frankfurt.
In March they will follow up with a tour throughout the Netherlands, ending with their debut at the Amsterdam @concertgebouw , with a performance in their Zondagochtendconcert series.

One of the most substantial and intricately constructed contemporary works for solo guitar, the piece unfolds with remarkable precision and clarity, demanding absolute rhythmic focus while constantly reshaping the instrumentâs colour and articulation. Birtwistle, not a guitarist himself, writes with striking imagination for the instrument â creating music that feels rigorous, restless, and unexpectedly tactile.
