Penarth: A Town in transition in the 20th & 21st Centuries - A talk by Marcus Payne
Penarth underwent a dramatic and breathtaking half century of development, growth and expansion during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Since then, it has experienced further transition and changeâsometimes viewed as decline from its glory days as a major port and seaside resort, but also as evolution.
This talk explores six key areas of change, both positive and negative: the dock and marina; churches and chapels; pubs and inns; railway stations and stops; and quarries and parks.
