JPS Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in
@kunstrai 2026 with a curated showcase exploring Hong Kong's multifaceted identity. The presentation features works by five prominent contemporary Hong Kong artists: Afa Annfa, Kazy Chan, Lousy, Peep, and Wilson Shieh. Collectively, these artists examine and contextualise the defining global moniker of their native city: the "concrete jungle."
To an external observer, this phrase frequently evokes a sterile, chaotic expanse of dizzying verticality. However, for those who inhabit the city, a profound human resonance runs through its dense infrastructure. Through this showcase, the artists reclaim Hong Kong's narrative from the outsider's gaze.
Transcending the imposing, impersonal façades of the metropolis, they offer intimate perspectives cultivated by a lifetime of navigating its streets. By translating their environment into nuanced, autobiographical narratives, the artists illuminate the warmth, vulnerability, and quiet humanity situated amidst towering concrete and glass. Ultimately, this presentation transforms a global symbol of urban extremity into a personal topography of home, affirming that the true essence of the city resides not in its architectural scale, but in the collective memory, resilience, and daily rhythms of its inhabitants.
