Thank you to everyone who completed our recent Peekskill Walks Priorities survey! The results are in, and nearly half (45%) of respondents said their top concern about Peekskill streets is pedestrian infrastructure conditions.
Our next step will be to set up a meeting with the city manager to discuss how best we can work with the city to address the many concerns residents have around missing and unmaintained pedestrian infrastructure. Stay tuned for opportunities to support our work!
As a community-driven group, Peekskill Walks is dedicated to making our streets safer. We need to hear from the community about what matters most to you, so we can focus our energy on your top priorities.
Please join us at The Field Library Program Room (4 Nelson Avenue) on Tuesday, April 7, from 6:00-6:45 p.m. to find out the results of this survey and hear our plans for the future.
Yikes 😱 Someone has been using the Decatur entrance to Fort Hill Park as their personal garbage can, and we’re not into it. Thanks to the Peekskill Walks volunteer who went by and cleaned it up, filling two large garbage bags with litter. The first of many cleanups in 2026!
It was a pleasure to share our thoughts on walkability and connectivity with the Urban Land Institute as part of their technical assistance panel on the Louisa Street and Lower South Street corridors. We’re excited that the city’s long-term vision for this area includes safe, thoughtfully designed pedestrian and micromobility user access to the waterfront and train station.

Peekskill Walks and the Rotary Club of Peekskill are teaming up for NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS: A Peekskill community food drive to benefit CHHOP-operated Fred’s Pantry. As SNAP benefits shrink and the holidays near, more of our neighbors are struggling to keep food on the table. This is an opportunity to make a real difference, and we invite everyone to support and be as generous as possible.
Now through Tuesday, November 18, please bring any of the listed most-needed items to the following drop-off locations during their normal business hours:
⭐️ Bantam Tools Machine Arts Gallery (in collaboration with Freekskill)
⭐️ BeanRunner Cafe
⭐️ Benny’s Brown Bag
⭐️ CCCafe
⭐️ City Hall
⭐️ Copperhead Club
⭐️ Fuhgeddaboudit Deli
⭐️ Peekskill Coffee House
⭐️ Peekskill Strength CrossFit (members)
A huge thank you to Copy Center & Services for generously donating print services for the drive.

Peekskill Walks needs you!
We’re a volunteer-powered group advocating for more walkable streets: Ones that are safer, friendlier and cleaner. If you want to support our work, join us at our upcoming meeting!
📅 Wednesday, October 29
⏰ 7:30 p.m.
📍 100 Ringgold Street (the beige brick building)
This A-M-A-Z-I-N-G group of volunteers (+ another fantastic four not pictured) spent time today documenting infrastructure and quality of life issues downtown. Thank you for showing up to do this important work on a humid Saturday morning!
We will use the data they compiled to create a comprehensive map for the city of the many issues — big and small — downtown.
Introducing Mapquest: PEEKSKILL 🗺️
Join us next Saturday, September 6, as we map out what needs attention and fixing in the downtown to make our streets safer, friendlier and more connected. Peekskill Walks will then create a comprehensive map that the city can use as a guide for change. Meet us at Esther Place at 10:00 a.m.
After, we’ll grab coffee and walk over to Peekskill Planning’s Waterfront Development Open House at the Neighborhood Center. This is an opportunity to see the transit-oriented developments proposed for the waterfront area, meet the developers, participate in a streetscape design session and more!

We came. We saw. We cleaned up a bunch of litter.
Happy to have left Pugsley Park and a few surrounding areas cleaner than we found them. Thank you to our amazing volunteers who showed up for the admittedly unglamorous job of picking up garbage in the summer heat!
