“Blossom Trail,” Paul O’Malley’s beautiful photograph in the Sprouting and Rerouting Exhibition is on view and modestly priced. Inquiries
@ankydyn.gallery The show continues this week through March 26 at Industry City, Freelancers Hub Gallery
@nyc_hub ( details below)
Paul O’Malley’s
@pauldomalley photograph, capturing a moment in time in 2025, contrasts with my drawing (slide 2) “View of the Development “ a layered pastel “painting” done over four years (2016- 2020) from my bedroom window, at approximately the same early morning time. ( I used my Grandparents’ binoculars—seen on the window sill.)
The development went up faster than my drawing. We no longer see the Freedom Tower ( detail, slide 3) or the access-a-ride vans below in the distance. And now there is another two towers, 36 and 40 stores in the vacant lot. ( We get reflected light from all their windows and there is a rectangle of sky between the towers. Although our block has gentrified, it has also diversified and accommodated sliding scale rents, at least in part. Greenpoint still feels like a small town.
A shout out to
@greenpointframes for the beautiful simple wood frame and the museum plexiglass which looks like there is no glass at all. ( slide 4 with Paul O’Malley).
My thanks to gallerist and curator
@raluca_anchidin for including my work, and for this wonderful show (slide 5- Raluca and Paul with “Blossom Trail”.
