What an amazing night and ride this has been! To be a part of a project like this, with so many professionals at the top of their game is humbling and inspiring. I was in art school when Episode III came out, and I thought that was it. I never dreamed I would ever work on *anything* Star Wars, let alone several of them.
Lightsabers, Blasters, Droids, Prams and Band Instruments are just a little bit of the fun I got to have as @fatdragonfilms Property Illustrator. I am eternally grateful to him for adding me to the roster of the top notch team he assembled.

Another design for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew! This was the wrist comlink for the bounty hunter character Pokkit. She encountes the group at the Skull Mountain resort hotel on Lanupa, and clearly holds somewhat of a grudge against Jod.
The only real note I had going in was a request for some action- a button on it that activated a red light. The top version was a riff on Lando’s comlink from ROTJ (see second photo) I also threw in a detail element from the one Leia wears as well. The bottom design was something I came up with from scratch- and that was the one selected.
This image also marks a workflow shift for me - I abandoned rendering in KeyShot 🤑🤑🤑 for rendering in Blender. That’s why the arm tattoos are slightly different. Design direction by @doug_chiang Property Master: Steve Melton

Another Star Wars: Skeleton Crew post! This was my approved design for Glerb’s Helmet!
Our man Glerb has a fun sort of “Right Stuff” moment where he walks out to his ship with his helmet tucked under his arm, climbs into the cockpit, puts the helmet on, flies off and gets killed by the Barrier. I really like designing helmets,and getting the opportunity to do a flight helmet for a Quarren was a super fun challenge that got even MORE challenging when it got moved up in the schedule and the month I *thought* I had turned into a WEEK AND A HALF until it had to be in front of a camera- so I had to do not only the design but also the engineering so the guys could build it on the props truck because we had zero time. The parts were 3d printed by @tyhi3d
The overall shape and greeblies are based on the Y-wing helmets from Return of the Jedi- modified a bit because it had to fit over the Quarren makeup. I envisioned the “ear cones” on the sides would be soft pieces like a WW2 cloth helmet, but time was a factor so they are 3d printed. The whole helmet clamshells over the makeup and is split on the sides because I figured we would only ever really see it head on.

Skeleton Crew had a lot of fun easter eggs and references to some past Star Wars productions- one of them were these Life Bracelets that we built but were sadly never shown in the show.
These are a callback to the bracelets worn by the family in the Ewok Adventure/Caravan of Courage TV movies from the ‘80s.
I was super excited to design these, as I “had” 😜 to watch the films again to collect reference, and the production design on them (Joe Johnston!) is great, and an example of that early 80s period Star Wars design magic.
These were made for KB’s parents, for a scene where they are reassuring the other parents they know she is OK because the bracelets are still connected. Not sure why it was cut, maybe because it didn’t make sense with the Barrier? 🤷🏻♂️. Anyway, we tried to make them slim and more jewelry/fashion accessory than the original bracelets that were kind of clunky. Maclunky? 😂 Design direction by Doug Chiang. Property Master: Steven Melton

Got some more Skeleton Crew artwork cleared! This is my design for the burned out Power Converter from Fern’s hoverbike. It was exciting to help bring the fabled part from Tosche Station into live-action for the first time. I was trying to emulate the white ceramic insulator on an automotive spark plug with the white rings. The photo is from when it was on display in the lobby of Lucasfilm in San Francisco. This show was a lot of fun to work on, and the Art Department under @germaniacz leadership was a blast!

Man, it’s hard to believe Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD premiered 12 years ago this week! Here’s some concepts I did for Property Master Scott Bauer on the pilot and first season- though I think the Hydra helmet was for season 2?
