for a variety of reasons I finally stopped using spotify this year to better support the artists i love in terms of live shows, buying albums, and using streaming services that at least pay artists a fraction of a cent more than spotify does. as a downside this meant no wrapped for me this year. so instead I present the albums that i listened to the most this year and how many times i listened to tracks from them courtesy of last.fm (great music tracker if you like wrapped but also want to move away from spotify). Descriptions for the top 5 here, rest of the list in the comments. 1. Bag of Infinite Songs by Disaster Artist (71 plays) - I got to see these dudes live in January at PhilaMOCA and they put on an insane show with hand drawn graphics projected behind them while playing. This album is incredible and if you feel like putting the time in there's like 20 tracks. 2. S/T by Saoirse Dream (49 plays) - Courtesy of my dear friend @angeljellycore (who's featured on this album) I was introduce to saoirse dream a couple years ago and she is just wonderful, a fantastic combination of so many of my favorite genres. 3. Oh! The Ocean by The Wombats (39 plays) - I somehow missed that The Wombats, who I've been following since 2014, put out a new album in February until like September, and they still made my top plays list. This album is strong and they really really just keep making emotionally charged bops album after album after album. 4. You Are Who You Hang Out With by The Front Bottoms (38 plays) - This will not be a surprise for anyone who knows me, nor will the fact that showed up on this list twice, but yeah. Front Bottoms still has lyricism and the whiny autotune vocals that pierce my heart with every listen. And I got to see em live like a week ago with @atransitiveproperty and had a blast. 5. This Wasn't Meant For You Anyway by Lola Young (37 plays) - It was neck and neck for these last three but I am so glad that this album made my top 5. Lola Young's vocals and angsty lyricism put a hole in my soul where I needed it earlier this year and it has stuck with me throughout the entire year. Incredible album.
