We can't believe our 5th Annual Solar Soirée is NEXT Thursday, April 30th!
Our western PA Solar Soirée is our largest fundraiser of the year, a fun evening filled with great food, spectacular views, live music, and solar trivia, as well as sun-inspired mocktails, wine, and beer. Many solar enthusiasts also look forward to returning each year for solar networking and policy updates.
This year, a few special exhibitors will be joining us to represent the various parts of a solar system, with national manufacturers @qcells.na (solar panels), @solaredge_us (inverters), and @uniracsolar (racking), who will have interactive displays for guests to explore.
We will also honor organizations that have recently gone solar with our Lodestar Award (and all of these are graduates of our GET Solar program!). These include @pgh_gateways , @neighborhoodnorth Museum of Play, and Whitehall Borough.
This year we will celebrate the @eicpittsburgh 's new solar array with a rooftop tour of the solar panels and garden, complete with stunning views of Pittsburgh and a celebratory toast.

The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) announced today plans to enter into a 25-year lease agreement with Capital Good Fund to develop a solar array, or solar farm, on a 15-acre site in Swisshelm Park! The site could generate enough renewable energy to offset 100% of the electricity demand at four Pittsburgh Public Schools. Over the 25-year lease, the district would save over $2.6 million in electricity expenses.
The PA Solar Center is honored to be consulting on this project in partnership with URA, helping to plan the project, as well as conducting feasibility and identifying Capital Good Fund as a possible funding source -- and identifying Pittsburgh Public Schools as an offtaker of energy that could benefit. Energy Independence for PA is a campaign that will train about 100 volunteers across Pennsylvania over the next six months to become Energy Leaders. Energy Leaders are volunteers who will promote the cost-saving benefits of renewable energy to their communities, from making presentations at town hall meetings, zoning board hearings, Rotary Clubs, and more, to posting on social media and calling legislators and elected officials.

Nonprofit @monvalleyinitiative (MVI) in Allegheny County is going solar with the help of our GET Solar program -- and they're now looking for a certified solar developer!
MVI will consider proposals from qualified solar companies between now and April 20, 2026, to help MVI’s Fifth Street Place senior affordable housing building in Charleroi, PA, go solar. MVI will host an on-site walkthrough upon request for solar developers interested in responding to the RFP.
Interested developers will need to undergo a short screening process to receive the RFP and can express interest by emailing Nick Rosen, Senior Program Coordinator, at [email protected].
