Whether you’re an aspiring young DJ pup, or a seasoned old bloodhound, or a cool cat who just wants to hear the hottest sounds in the city, Blends is the perfect place to pull up and meet a pack of great local music people! Sign up to play a 20 minute set on CDJ-3000s or your own gear. Sorry no vinyl tonight because one of the turntables started making an evil sound and it’s in the shop. As always Blends With Friends is FREE to attend but we strongly encourage donations at the door to help us and our lovely host venue @the_pinhook to escape the dogcatcher (capitalism) another day! WEDNESDAY we are back at @the_pinhook for Blends With Friends from 8pm to midnight! Want to DJ? Bring your USB, DJ controller or your setup of choice and drop your name in the jar to play a 20 minute set on stage on The Pinhook’s legendary sound system! (No vinyl this week as the turntables are in the shop) Just want to hang out? Even if you’re not trying to DJ, Blends is a great place to chill, get some work done, meet other music people, collaborate, find gigs, find new DJs for your party, enjoy some tasty bevs (including NA options) and support Durham’s longest-running venue space! As always, no one will be turned away for lack of funds, but we really need and appreciate your donations to keep the event running and support the space! We are committed to keeping Blends free to attend, and if everyone who came donated $10 and bought something at the bar, we would be financially sustainable and able to continue offering consistent free events. Known for turning dance floors into late-night energy shifts, her sets blend heavy bass, moody vibes, and unexpected transitions that sneak up on you. BLENDR ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: @sol.aerys Sol is a Durham, NC based multi-instrumentalist with a keen ear for movement-inspiring music. She prioritizes spotlighting diverse sounds spanning the Black diaspora, from Ampiano to Ghetto Tech to Baile Funk, and everything in between. Sol acknowledges the dance floor as a sacred space, and understands music as a means of facilitating liberation, healing, and community. In reverence of this understanding, Sol’s approach to soundscape creation centers freedom, creative expression, and human connection wrapped in feverish rhythm and bass and playful vocals that are guaranteed to move you. BLENDR ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: @mofle.919 @Mofle.919 is a Puerto Rican techno DJ based in Durham, NC, specializing in raw, hypnotic techno and hardgroove. Shaped by his time living in Europe, Möfle channels the depth and intensity of the underground scene. His sets explore techno’s darker edges, blending psy textures with rolling, pulsating rhythms that build tension over time. With a strong focus on atmosphere, he crafts immersive journeys designed to move both body and mind all night long. Through his Studio Session series, Möfle experiments with new techniques while sharing his evolving sonic identity. Focused on authenticity over trends, he is steadily carving out a space for himself in the growing techno movement. His local debut opening for Marie Vaunt sealed his reputation as an emerging force in the underground. Since then, he has continued to refine a sound that balances groove, and emotional depth. Drawing from his roots, his music carries a natural sense of rhythm that connects deeply with the dancefloor. WAX MUSEUM CURATOR SPOTLIGHT: @treeecity Treee City is an artist, DJ, and co-founder of Durham’s @partyillegal collective and @blends_with_friends open decks. He’s performed around the USA and the world at events and festivals like Moogfest and Hopscotch. For over 15 years he’s perfected his ability to energize dancefloors, sharing stages with artists like Sylvan Esso, Washed Out, Jubilee, Daedelus, and Odd Mob. His debut full-length album Good Job is “something special...filled with dance-floor heaters” (Indy Week) and his releases have seen support from tastemaking DJs like Anna Lunoe and GRRL. A truly versatile performer, his sets range from hard-hitting club workouts to sundrenched vinyl mixes and improvised hardware performances. @treeecity will be spinning tonight at WAX MUSEUM at @stanczyksdurham alongside @muchamanifesta and @djshahzad919 . WAX MUSEUM CURATOR SPOTLIGHT: @muchamanifesta MuchaManifesta is a vinyl selector from Miami, FL, currently residing in Durham, NC. She is the founder of Vinyl Social Club (@vinylsocialclubnc ), a gathering space for record lovers to participate in open-spin sessions. Her events at Durham institutions from @littlebullnc to @ncbarbaro focus on community, discovery, and celebrating vinyl culture—creating spaces where selectors and listeners connect through sound. Vinyl Social Club has thrown parties up and down the East Coast from Miami (@vinyl_social_club_mia_ ) to Brooklyn, NY. Her vinyl sets tend to blend world, soul, disco, hip-hop, house, samples & Latin grooves. @muchamanifesta will be playing records this Saturday April 4th at WAX MUSEUM at @stanczyksdurham alongside @djshahzad919 and @treeecity .
