“Hostile Street” is out now where you listen to music🧿 So, an increasingly cruel society is encroaching on people who are basically good and friendly and just trying to do their thing. I know that, you know that, we all know that. Me and Mandy saw it in hostile street furniture – those bus benches that have uncomfortable decorations to make it impossible for homeless folks and other tired persons to lay down. Most people are not going to go to war against the encroachingly cruel society’s effect on our daily lives. We are going to attempt to accommodate it so we can continue trying to do our thing. Even as its demands on us grow greater and greater and greater. That is basically what this song is about. By the way. The first voice you hear on “Hostile Street” is Stubbs barking while we were starting the demo of this song. New Music Friday! We’re releaseing our reimagining of Underworld’s “Rez / Cowgirl.” From our upcoming album Acoustic Electronica — transforming seminal electronic works through a jazz trio lens, building modern production entirely from acoustic performance. I wanted to share this with you all. This is the first project in over 15 years that I haven’t just produced, but that I’m officially doing for myself. @thecourtatversailles My longtime college friend turned jazz pianist Joel [email protected]_no.juay and I have had countless late-night conversations over the years about what it might sound like if a jazz trio reimagined seminal electronic music — not just covering the tracks, but adding modern production that isn’t precious with the recorded tracks. Over the past year we finally put that idea to the test, and the result is an album called Acoustic Electronica. Our first single is “A Walk,” originally by @tychomusic Alongside Joel on piano, we’re joined by Sam Minaie @samminaie on upright bass — a New York–based musician who has toured internationally for over a decade with pianist Tigran Hamasyan. His playing bridges jazz tradition with a more forward-thinking, improvisational approach. On drums and percussion is John Hadfield @mrsunshinebeam . Based in Paris, John is known for his wide-ranging versatility and has been a longtime member of Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble, as well as a contributor to the Saturday Night Live Band.
