I wanted to share this with you all. This is the first project in over 15 years that I haven’t just produced, but that I’m officially doing for myself.
@thecourtatversailles
My longtime college friend turned jazz pianist Joel
[email protected]_no.juay and I have had countless late-night conversations over the years about what it might sound like if a jazz trio reimagined seminal electronic music — not just covering the tracks, but adding modern production that isn’t precious with the recorded tracks. Over the past year we finally put that idea to the test, and the result is an album called Acoustic Electronica.
Our first single is “A Walk,” originally by
@tychomusic
Alongside Joel on piano, we’re joined by Sam Minaie
@samminaie on upright bass — a New York–based musician who has toured internationally for over a decade with pianist Tigran Hamasyan. His playing bridges jazz tradition with a more forward-thinking, improvisational approach.
On drums and percussion is John Hadfield
@mrsunshinebeam . Based in Paris, John is known for his wide-ranging versatility and has been a longtime member of Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble, as well as a contributor to the Saturday Night Live Band. He brings a global and dynamic rhythmic perspective to the group.
Hope you enjoy the song — and the beautiful visualizer by
@jeremywold .
More to come.
