HOW WE MADE THIS ✨ I typically shoot in vertical because it’s naturally more appealing and engaging to the eye, but! Every brand needs to be considered for what will help it convert, so we also focused on horizontal website banners for @marrincostello jewelry. We wanted the jewelry to pop, which I set up lighting to highlight. I chose a one-light setup with a 5-foot octobox to add a little more mood and dynamic light to the image. One small issue though: Marrin, the designer and our model, is so stunning that her face and eyes easily distract you from focusing on the jewelry. But, we can’t just crop out a head from photos; this leads our viewer to subconciously ask, “Why doesn’t she have a head?” and then that becomes the focus. So, in details photos that focus on product, I crop just below the nose. The mouth is still in the frame, showing that our model has a head, but also cropping the biggest distraction on a face, which is the eyes. As humans, we’re naturally drawn to faces, and especially the eyes. We crave the contact, even through a screen. I only crop like this when I’m zooming in on details though (but with a prime, not a zoom lens lol). When I pull back to show the action of the product, I include the whole face to also show the mood. Then, I pull back further, full body, to show the entire context or story. Swipe through to see the range of compositions. Shot on location in DTLA and #costellobabe HQ in Oct. 2019 Brand and styling: Marrin Costello// Hair and makeup: @amberrosehairandmakeup

PHOTOS WITH A KICK—I can’t believe it took FOUR YEARS to come up with the perfect caption for this photo. Wow. If you’ve been here awhile, you know. If you’re new, welcome! We do things differently and have fun here. Your brand copy + visuals should stand out. My question for you is—do you stand out? Or are you always stuck with something in your business? In an ideal world, your business will feel a little… boring, actually. The creative work will still be inspired, but the business backend won’t give you a constant headache. You’ll finally be able to offload it to a team. Is this you yet? (Hint: Constant confusion and “let’s change it up… again” is not team building—it’s giving your headache to someone else 👀)

✨️40✨️ Another year around the sun; and I'm feelin' myself today🔥 I keep finding strength and bravery in myself, in places and spaces 20-year old me couldn't have imagined. Business and career. Relationships. Communities. Myself. As I enter this new decade that everyone keeps telling me is so great, I'm honoring my strength, bravery, vulnerability, beauty, softness, compassion, resilience, power, voice, body, mind, spirit, and badassery. I have so much gratitude for my dear friend Paige (@paigeraycreative ) for capturing me playing in my body, in the space that has helped me uncover, revisit, and heal so many parts of myself. I also have deep gratitude for every yoga and pole teacher I've practiced with the last few years. You all have inspired me so much. You've reminded and taught me how to be patient with myself, love and appreciate my body in ways I hadn’t before, and connect to my spirit in the most beautiful, connected, grounded, playful, and sultry ways. I never really imagined myself at this age, but I'm proud of who I've become, and I'm curious to see who I'll be in a year or ten from now. May the strength I've gained bring me more abundance, joy, peace, and ease.💖✨️ (P.s. - If you're still reading and you'd like to contribute to my strength building and send me a gift towards a class, my Venmo is @Crystal -Whiteaker - No pressure, but always appreciated 💖) Shoutout to my teachers: @yogablissla @lara_loves @grace.lorenzo__ @jenniferwintheryoga @r.c.squared @beingallisimon @pol.dance @liberated.dance @manderwing @frankiw_i @ohlookanotherbruise @leightonwilson

If you or someone you know is a trans, nonbinary, or gender expansive (TGX) business owner based in Los Angeles County, please read, save, and share this post. I’m working with Crystal Whiteaker of Crystal Lily Creative to TGX business owners at no cost in 2026. Crystal Lily Creative (@crystallilycreative ) is partnered with the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) to develop and facilitate a trauma-informed leadership and brand development accelerator program for TGX business owners based in Los Angeles County. Participants will receive support to develop or redefine their brand while deepening their understanding of leadership, business, marketing, legal/intellectual property, bookkeeping and taxes, and more. They will also engage in conversations relevant to TGX business/brand owners and challenges they face in today’s political, social, and economic climate. There is a wonderful team of leaders and business owners supporting this project. If you or someone you know is a TGX business owner based in Los Angeles County who may be interested in participating, all are encouraged to apply. Applications close January 18, 2026 at 11:59 PM PST. Thank you in advance, should you share it. I’m excited to be a part of this project!

Having both full-length and shortform versions of your video project gives you a range of use across platforms. I LOVE how the 1-min version of @mayaarmonyart ’s full-length mediation video turned out. See the full video on our site 🔗
