This look is very dear to my heart, this is one of my proudest moments. Our Designer Deb Watson asked me to create a veil and a crown made of hair for the Queen's Funeral, this look wasn't the original design. Things some times don't work out, definitely felt the pressure because I am someone that wants to ALWAYS exceed expectations but was reminded I am human and sometimes you need to "Stop, drop and roll" that's exactly what I did. I was in the cab on my way home had my headphones on listening to @solangeknowles seat at the table and 'Don't touch my hair' came on. The lyrics "Don't touch my crown" really helped reminded me the natural hair that grows out of how head is our crown no matter how we choose to wear it. It's resilient and versatile. Black hair is beautiful and liberating and deserves to be celebrated, that has always be such an important part of my career. The Afro has been such symbolic part of black history from the beginning of time. It's not just an extension of our identity but also sacred and spiritual. I fire lit up in my belly. I got home just before midnight had to be up at 3:30am instead of sleeping I grabbed the Afro wig I made a few months prior and gave it a good cleanse. When I got to work I was just praying Cassie and Deb was going to like the idea because *Ian Bill voice* I got nothing left 💀😂 ended up looking even more beautiful than I expected and everyone reaction on set from the cast and crew will honestly be something I will never forget. The response from the fans has just being incredible thank you for all the lovely messages and comments. The reason why I chose to use an Afro wig instead of Cassie natural hair is because hair health is very important to me as a hairstylist using a wig became a protective style and give Cassie a break from her many hairstyles and allowed Philippa to have a extremely dense Afro which I'm obsessed with.
