As the Great Glen Paddle Challenge 2025 draws closer, we’re thrilled to welcome back a familiar face – Lukasz Ryba! 🙌
Lukasz had some bad luck in 2023 when his paddle snapped at the end of Loch Ness 😱 – but he’s back this year, stronger than ever, and ready to take on the non-stop Ultra. That’s 92km in 14 hours or less, from Fort William to Inverness in one continuous push. 💪
The record to beat? Just under 9 hours, set by Paul Simmons of @StarboardUK fame. 🚀

Paddlers, get ready to cross Scotland coast-to-coast! The Great Glen Paddle Challenge covers a stunning 92km from Neptune’s Staircase in Fort William to Canal Road, Inverness, taking in dramatic scenery and three iconic lochs:
🌊 Loch Lochy
🌊 Loch Oich
🌊 Loch Ness – 34km of open water where you might just spot Nessie 👀
This isn’t just flatwater cruising – you’ll tackle a mix of lochs and canal sections, plus multiple portages including Gairlochy, Laggan Locks, Fort Augustus and Kytra Lock. Expect sweeping Highland views, a huge sense of achievement, and a test of endurance like no other.
