I was honored to do a lecture/workshop today at UCLA Art and Science Department: Surface Tension: Exploring Sound, Touch, and Improvised Response. Its main focus was centered on using contact mics as an artistic medium. It was an incredible experience to work with these curious, engaged and super creative students and watch them flourish in a medium they never explored before. It was humbling and moving to be part of it. A very special thanks to @ivana.dama , @ivy.lovett and all the staff at @ucla_artsci for letting me be part of their great program and all they do for the art community

A look back at Day 3 “Echoed Gestures” This 3-day event was born from a vision: to explore how sound is shaped—and reshaped—by the contexts in which it’s experienced Untitled Sounds closes the 3 day event with a series of durational and live performance works that weave together movement, presence, narrative, and sound. Artists engage the space with bodily gestures shaped by sonic response. Not only a challenging creative endeavors, but a physical one as well to sustain performance for over 5 hours. A look back at “Untitled Sounds”: Day 2 This 3-day event was born from a vision: to explore how sound is shaped—and reshaped—by the contexts in which it’s experienced Rather than presenting fixed compositions, the installations invite audiences into a contemplative and relational listening experience. Sound is treated as presence, texture, and transformation — encountered as an evolving condition in space and time. The compilation of work filled the room with an ambient sound forest presence as you enter the room that invited the audience to discover and explore. A look back on “Untitled Sounds: Day 1 “Resonant Sounds” This 3-day event was born from a vision: to explore how sound is shaped—and reshaped—by the contexts in which it’s experienced We opened the event with a durational performance featuring five experimental sound artists improvising together over a two hour time period in an open sonic exchange. Audiences are invited to witness live sound as a raw, unfolding process. The results surpassed my expectations. I was truly inspired not only by the artist but the audiences reaction of curiosity and wonder. A special thanks to these wonderful artist: Nelle J.
