🥂 Please join Department of Transformation on Sunday, May 4 at The Clemente for the opening of “Consciousness Energy Grid”⚡️an exhibition of wall-mounted lightbox sculptures by artist Jonathan Bruce Williams that elicit somatic responses and invite altered states of consciousness through layered fields of image, movement, and light 🕯️ Informed by the history of “The Gateway Process,” a top-secret experimental research project conducted by the CIA in the 1980s to explore consciousness expansion and psychic phenomena, Williams’ works play in the contested terrain between the scientific and the subjective 🧿
🧘🏽♀️ To launch the exhibition, DOT invites you to join us at 4pm for “Conscious Connection,” a collaborative workshop led by Williams and art advisor/yoga instructor Payal Parekh 🫱🏽🫲🏼Departing from Consciousness Energy Grid’s sculptural exploration of bodily vulnerability, altered states, and the transformative valence of movement and light, Williams begins this experiential program by demonstrating the creative use (and abuse) of mobile communication technologies to form a chain of uncanny connection that summons the ghosts in our collective machines 📱 Parekh follows by leading participants in an embodied practice that includes stretching, meditation, reflection, and discussion based on “Blessed Rest by Payal” 🃏 an affirmational card deck conceived as a supportive reminder that rest is our collective birthright and a critical aspect of healing ❤️🩹
