“I thought I needed to change the world. Now I think the trick is to change the five feet around you. Smile at the person across the table. Ask the question that makes someone feel seen. Plant something in the dirt and let it grow taller than you. The world takes care of itself when the corners are tended.” — The Tiny Joy Project . Pretend it’s 2030, 2045, 2070… How are we ideally caring for the earth and/or each other? This is an invitation to imagine the future you want to see. . I am so excited to partner with @writingwithmoirasilva and @vineyardconservation on this project inviting YOU to imagine another way we can care for each other and the planet. We look forward to you showing us another way. . Join us for a reading of these stories with @pathwaysartsmv as our generous host at the Chilmark Tavern in Chilmark, MA on 11/18 or in NYC (details TBC). . Need some inspiration in the meantime? We are hosting a VIRTUAL writing workshop with the @wtpubliclibrary from 10:00-11:30 on Saturday, October 18th. Sign up via the link in our bio! 🌱

“There’s no single answer that will solve all our future problems. There’s no magic bullet. Instead there are thousands of answers — at least. You can be one of them if you choose to be.” - Octavia E. Butler . We are so excited for our writing workshop series this spring. Inspired by @ayanaeliza What if We Get it Right? and her episodes on the importance of storytelling with @carritwigg and Dream Hampton, this series is an invitation to imagine how we could better care for ourselves, each other and the planet. What do solutions look like in 2030, 2045 and beyond? . Create a blueprint for what could be possible + sign up for workshops via the link in bio. - Tuesday, March 31st from 6:30-8:30 with @cordeliabk - Thursday, April 9th from 6:30-8:30 with @neighbor.nyc - Thursday, April 30th from 7:00-9:00 with @openbook.nyc and @recessgrove

Creativity is a form of resistance. . When there are no words, and it’s overwhelming to know where to begin, it’s important to remember resistance comes in many forms, and hope is one of them. This weekend as we hunker down with the winter storm and reflect on what needs to change and how to care for each other, we invite you to take a 10, 20, 30 minute break from your screen and imagine how we could better care for ourselves, each other and the planet. What does the future look like that we are striving for? . Slide for a few prompts to get started, or join us in person in February. Links in bio for upcoming workshops + storytelling events. ❤️

“It seems like everything sleeps in winter, but it’s really a time of renewal and reflection.” – Elizabeth Camden . As we start 2026 with resolutions for the New Year, how do we want to create and imagine what the future could look like beyond the next week, month or year? What steps could we take today - be it composting, hosting a clothing swap, helping with carpooling, starting seedlings for your community garden etc. - to help inform a stronger community and culture of care? . Join us @bunchofgrapes on Thursday, February 12th from 5:30-7:00 to hear from Molly Coogan co-owner of @bunchofgrapes on some of her favorite books showcasing the intersectionality of community, care and change, as well as organizations on the island already actively impacting our community, @vineyardconservation being one of them. We will also feature selected storytellers who have already started blueprints for what could be possible in the next five, ten or twenty years. We hope to see you there! 💫 . We are so excited to co-host a writing series with @neighbor.nyc this spring. Sign up to reflect, imagine + create in community- change does not happen alone!

“I want to be remembered as someone who tried.” - Dorothy Height . Thank you to all the storytellers who shared their vision and hope for the future with us at our FIRST storytelling event for Another way. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of community and storytelling as we reimagine a future with a focus of care for ourselves, each other and the planet. . Thank you for your support and partnership @pathwaysartsmv and @vineyardconservation . We look forward to seeing you all in 2026! 💫

“Do not be misled into passivity either by false security (they don’t mean me) or by despair (there’s nothing we can do). Each of us must find our work and do it.” -Audre Lorde . There are so many small initiatives that lead to larger impact- what have you seen that excites you? What do you feel is missing and wish was there? . Monthly community potlucks, sabbaticals every decade, accessible child or elder care, four day work weeks, reliable public transportation, moving slower, more guaranteed vacation…do we change in the ways we gather? The ways we travel (local or beyond)? The way we eat? How we care for others? How we relate to nature? How we take care of ourselves? . What do you want to try or would like to see change? What would you like to see more of? It’s always impossible until it’s done- why not create a blueprint with a story? . Join us for a reading of these initial ideas with @writingwithmoirasilva @pathwaysartsmv and @vineyardconservation at the Chilmark Tavern in Chilmark, MA on Tuesday, November 18th from 7:30-9:00. ✨

Saturday we paired up with @our_commonwealth and @heretohonor to hear from storytellers about their COVID-19 experience stories. We thank those who bravely shared their stories (and poetry!) to get vulnerable with us. I'm not going to lie and say I knew exactly what I remember was going through my mind during our lockdown, NYC style, and this was a time that helped me recall some of my experiences too in this isolation timeframe. #GriefCommunity #deathoftheparty #lifeandsoul #covidanniversary #storytellingevent #armsaround

We are so excited to partner with @heretohonor and @thelifeandsoul.co for our last event in the Handle with Care series at @hi_neighbor_nyc . While Covid affected us all differently, there was a level of personal and collective loss on a scale we haven’t seen before. These two amazing organizations emerged from the collective awareness that we as a society need better support to prepare, process and handle loss and the grief that comes with it. . Our hope with this series is to create space to help us process and reflect together- reserve a ticket or submit a story via the links in our bio 💫

Still can’t get over the stories we heard at our first Handle with Care event @ptknitwear ! Storytellers came together, 5 years after lockdown, to share their unique experiences during COVID. These beautiful stories gave us the opportunity to laugh, cry and reflect about a time that touched us all. If you would like to join our virtual event on April 16th at 7pm EST submit your story by April 9! You can also join us in-person on Saturday, April 26 @hi_neighbor_nyc - for this event, please submit your story by Sunday, April 20th. Reserve your ticket or submit your story via links in our bio.
