Update on Katama Meadows hearing. Last night we heard from conservationists, scientists, housing advocates, fishermen, families very familiar with the housing crisis, young folks— a diverse spectrum of voices who all shared one sentiment. Our community will not allow the continued degradation of our environment at the hands of developers looking for a cash grab. It’s not easy to stand up and say something, especially sitting through three hours of presentations! We’ll keep showing up to protect our lands and waters. Thank you for doing the same. ❤️ Looking forward to hearing the MVCs decision in the weeks to come. More soon :)

There’s still time for local high school students from @mvrhs_ and @mv_public_charter_school to submit writing and art for this year’s Art of Conservation contest! Scan the QR code on the flyer or head to the VCS website for more information. #conservation #marthasvineyard #artcontest

We have a composting problem on #marthasvineyard and part of the solution is decentralization! @islandgrowninitiative has installed an EcoRich food waste processor at the @mv_public_charter_school and they plan to install one at each Island school. #conservation #compost

Weeds have long been considered enemies of a manicured, quintessential suburban lawn. But the Vineyard Lawn welcomes weeds of all kinds, and for many different reasons. They attract pollinators, act as natural aerators, and boost biodiversity. Plus, as Rebecca Gilbert of Native Earth Teaching Farm and author of “Weedy Wisdom for the Curious Forager” lauds, you can eat some of them! Bring your family to the farm for an afternoon of fun and outdoor education. #marthasvineyard #conservation #organic #lawns

We’re still riding the vibes from this past Saturday’s Earth Day beach cleanup and conservation festival 🌊. Sincere thanks to all the organizations, businesses, families, and every volunteer who came out to clean our beaches and celebrate our wonderful home. #earthday #marthasvineyard #beachcleanup

🌊 We have two things to celebrate today! First, we’re thrilled to announce that the Bank has earned its B Corporation recertification, a recognition that reflects our ongoing commitment to people, community, and place. And this morning, that commitment showed up! A team of community and employee volunteers participated in the Vineyard Conservation Society’s annual beach clean-up at Eastville Beach. The group removed an impressive 1,000 lbs of storm debris, including pressure-treated wood, broken pilings, and rusting hardware. Proof, once again, that many hands make light work. We’re proud to be part of a community that shows up for the places it loves. 💚
