We were delighted to be asked to contribute to the @sheerluxe feature on Where to Spend vs Save — link in bio. Thank you @georginablaskey Here are a few examples of how we’ve balanced investment pieces with more considered savings across our projects: 1: Marylebone pied-à-terre Storage and comfort were key, so we invested in well-designed joinery and a fully bespoke @davidseyfriedfurniture sofa, while saving on @laredoute_uk side tables. 2. Dulwich bedroom Our client wanted a true sanctuary. We prioritised these sheer curtains for privacy, layered behind blackout curtains by @kls.interiors in beautiful hand-printed @waltergtextiles linen. We saved by sourcing French antique bedside tables from @custodian.antiques . 3. Barbican living room We invested in a bespoke @davidseyfriedfurniture sofa and a customised @sofasandstuff armchair in @arumfellow fabric, alongside statement joinery by @collinson_studio . We balanced this with more affordable pieces from @laredoute_uk and @westelmuk . 4. Abbeville Village We splurged on a stunning @pinch_london sofa and chaise, and paired these with savings on a @grahamandgreen mirror and an antique side table. A thoughtful mix of high and low is often what makes a scheme feel truly layered and personal. Design by @ottadesign 📷 by @jonathanbondphotography

Our latest journal post visits a beautifully layered home by @ottadesign - full of colour, texture and thoughtful detail. It’s the kind of space that feels personal from the moment you step in. You’ll find our Raydons throughout, from kitchens to bathrooms, adding a quiet sense of balance alongside richer finishes. Proof that good lighting doesn’t need to shout to be noticed. Take a closer look via the link in our bio. 📷 @jonathanbondphotography Styling @ottadesign

Such a joy to see fellow West Londoner Marte Armitage’s work being celebrated with an exhibition at my local park @pitzhanger Her hand-drawn, hand-cut designs have quietly shaped interiors for over six decades. Remarkably, at nearly 96 years old, she’s still printing her patterns using the same painstaking linocut process she began in the 1960s. We will certainly be using these delightful hand printed artisanal wallpapers and fabrics in our schemes. Can't wait for the print making demonstration on 7th May 🌿 Opened at the weekend and on until 19th July — would thoroughly recommend a visit @marthearmitageprints

Kraków is the latest addition to the Otta Design weekend-away guide! ✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Once Poland’s royal capital and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this city is full of history, beauty, and incredible energy. From the stunning medieval Old Town to Kazimierz — the historic Jewish Quarter — with its eclectic charm, synagogues, and vibrant food scene, every corner has a story to tell. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We also stepped beyond the city to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau — a deeply moving and sobering reminder of the past — before ending our trip 130 metres underground in the breathtaking Wieliczka Salt Mine, where vast chambers, chapels, lakes, and intricate sculptures are all carved entirely from salt. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A weekend that was as thought-provoking as it was unforgettable. 🇵🇱

Wallpaper is so versatile, adding colour, texture and personality to a space. Small print, large print, fabric or vinyl, the options are endless. It is not just limited to the walls, we wall paper ceilings, wardrobe doors - where is the most unusual place you have wallpapered? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Swipe to see some of our favourite wallpaper installations: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1 - In one of our Hampshire projects our client wanted to inject a bit of fun in one of the downstairs loos. This @schumacher1889 wallpaper definitely mixes things up! 2 - In the snug in another country house project this small print @sibylcolefax wallpaper is wrapped on the walls and ceiling enveloping the space and hiding the low sloping ceilings. 3 - Fabric walling softens a space and is a great way of dampening the sound. This blue linen fabric backed wallpaper from @thorpoflondon creates a sophisticated backdrop to to art and antiques. 4 - Using a vinyl wallpaper in bathrooms is a practical way to add pattern as it is wipeable and won’t be damaged by the humidity from an overenthusiastic showerer. This is one of our favourites from @annawillmsdesigns 5 - Textured vinyl wallpapers are practical and stop a room feeling flat - in our Barbican project this @phillipjeffrieslondonpaper sits very comfortably with the mid century vibe. 6 - Grasscloth panels from @phillipjeffrieslondon elevate these bespoke wardrobe doors. 📷 @jonathanbondphotography

We’re both heading off on ski trips this year, though sadly not to chalets quite as fabulous as these. The designers have steered clear of the typical “chalet style” clichés, instead creating beautifully layered interiors that would tempt anyone off the slopes early. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1-2: @salvesengraham - 📷 @horwoodphoto 3-4: @hubertzandberginteriors - 📷@giulioghirardistudio 5: @emmanueldebayser - 📷 @stephanjulliard 6-7: @annabelgrimshawdesign - 📷 @robinqphoto 8-9: @johnmartinestudio - 📷 @lissmabey 10: @vanessamacdonaldmelissawyndham - 📷 @boz_gagovski

There’s something so special about working with returning clients. We first transformed the ground floor of this Wandsworth Common Victorian townhouse in 2022, followed by the master suite in 2023 and their son’s room in 2024 — and now we’re excited to be designing their daughter’s bedroom and bathroom. Watching a home evolve alongside a family is a real privilege, and we’re so grateful for the continued trust they place in us 💚 Scroll across for highlights from the journey so far, plus our scheme for their daughter’s room. Design by @ottadesign 📷 by @jonathanbondphotography 1. Hallway — inspired by the stars in the original stained glass, reflected in the tessellated floor by @londonmosaic 2. Kitchen — existing cabinetry refreshed in @farrowandball Green Smoke 3. Dining — bespoke banquette by @creativedge_furniture with drawers below and storage either side 4. Sitting room — enveloped in @farrowandball Inchyra Blue to embrace the north-facing light 5. Utility — cheerful @ottolinedevries wallpaper lifts the everyday 6 & 7. Master bedroom — layered textures using @christopherfarrcloth and @phillipjeffriesltd to create a rich, inviting cocoon 8. Master ensuite — polished nickel @castironbathcompany brassware with bespoke detailing for a timeless feel 9. Daughter’s room & ensuite — centred around @ottolinedevries Tiny Tulips and the Sporty Stripes bed

We kicked off 2026 at full pace — wrapping up current projects, engaging new ones, and laying the groundwork for what’s shaping up to be an exciting year ahead. Alongside the studio work, we carved out time for a little inspiration too — from exhibitions and fairs to the theatre, plus some much-needed sea air along the Norfolk coast. A good balance of productivity and perspective to start the year. Onwards through February! 1. Finishing touches at our Barnes full house renovation, complete with a fabulous oversized mirror by @reidandwright . We can’t wait to share the final photos after our shoot in April. 2. Vast canvases and vibrant batiks at the Tate Modern for the Emily Kam Kngwarray exhibition. 3 and 4. Presentation and sign-off at our Moor Park project — all to be installed in eight weeks! 5. Art and @sipsmith at Wednesday Late at the @londonartfair . Among our favourites were Rose Hilton and @jeremyannear at @messumslondon 6. Ali and Eva finally saw Ballet Shoes at The National Theatre — a solid 10/10. On until the end of the month and well worth a visit. 7. After much deliberation over the perfect wood stain, the study joinery by @creativedge_furniture is going in at our Clapham Old Town project, with the games room, kitchen bar and living room joinery following this month. 8. One of our favourites, @sanspretentionlondon , spotted during an antique sourcing afternoon at @decorativefair 9. Breakfast meeting with Tallulah at @roseuniacke to preview their new collection — from airy linens and sheers to plush wools and bouclés. 10. We love an arch. Luckily our Victorian bakery conversion in Battersea has plenty, inspiring this library-style joinery across the window wall by @creativedge_furniture . 11. Windswept Alex under big blue skies at Holkham Beach. 12. Nautical colour palette at Burnham Overy Staithe.
