Un ritratto esclusivo per Esquire Italia indaga la grammatica visiva di Orfeo Tagiuri: un lessico fatto di segni minimi e figure ricorrenti, dove il bianco e nero diventa scelta concettuale e il disegno si impone come forma primaria di accesso all’inconscio.​ ​ ESQ Il disegno però sembrerebbe una costante del suo lavoro.​
OT: Sono uno scarabocchiatore seriale. È come fare un sogno. Posso esplorare qualcosa che va oltre la logica iniziale ed è più legato all’inconscio.​ ​ ESQ Predilige uno stile minimalista. Per gusto estetico o attitudine?​
OT: Componendo musica, ho scoperto che se l’idea iniziale non è buona non si può creare qualcosa di forte semplicemente incorporando sempre più elementi. Idem quando il cuore di una canzone funziona: non occorre aggiungere altro. Così nell’arte visiva. Molto raramente uso il colore. Dopo aver firmato le cover di sezione per il primo numero dell’anno di Esquire Italia, Orfeo Tagiuri torna protagonista. Con un servizio fotografico e un’intervista esclusiva, l’artista statunitense di base a Londra, si lascia ritrarre, abitando l’immagine in prima persona. ​ ​ ESQ Nomen omen. Gli antichi dicevano che il nome contiene il destino di chi lo porta. Cosa rappresenta l’arte per lei?​
OT: È una pratica quotidiana di connessione con me stesso e con il mondo che mi circonda. Kaprow scrisse che non c’era opera sonora più bella delle comunicazioni tra gli astronauti nello spazio e Houston, così come la coreografia più accattivante è quella delle persone che camminano in un supermercato evitandosi. Qualsiasi cosa può essere arte. E direi che l’arte è la volontà di vedere le cose poeticamente.​ ​ ESQ Lei è un cantore dei micro dettagli della quotidianità. È lì che c’è più poesia?​

So excited to announce my upcoming show at Mutty Gallery this month!! @muttygallery ORFEO TAGIURI, Doing Nothing Mutty Gallery is delighted to present the solo exhibition by London-based artist Orfeo Tagiuri. Opening Saturday 21 February, 5-9 p.m. 21 February - 4 April 2026 ° Mutty Gallery, Via Trieste 32A, Brescia The exhibition presents a new group of works on paper in various sizes as an extension of the ongoing series Little Passing Thoughts. The show is completed by two animated videos created for the collaborative musical project by Brian Eno and Beatie Wolfe (Procession, 2025 and Suddenly, 2025), the animated short film The Way Home (2020) and an archive table displaying sketchbooks, books, objects and fetishes related to the artist’s creative process. The line drawings with text, known to the public through the instagram account @orfayo and the publication now in its third edition by @chose_commune , originate from the artist’s daily thoughts, capturing fragments of introspection and emotional awareness. The title of the exhibition refers to the Zen Buddhist concept of being without a goal or intention. Orfeo Tagiuri’s drawings capture common and deeply human attitudes, reflecting them with irony and intelligence. @orfeot @orfayo More about the exhibition via the link on the Mutty Gallery page.
