Horizon High is state championship bound!
The Hawks swept Lake Brantley, 3-0, in the Final Four match to advance to the finals for the first time in school history. The team will play for a state title at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 16.

The First Academy boys weightlifting team first won the district championship for the first time since 2022. Then the team won the Olympic division at regionals. At both meets, Kyler Priester earned three first-place finishes and maintained his success at states. Priester became the first Royals’ lifter to win a state championship by lifting 545 pounds in the Olympic division.

Winter Garden Capt. Michael Makatura has spent the past more than 30 years reminiscing over his days of serving with the 10th Tactical Fighter Squadron. He decided to put those memories on paper in honor of all those who served in the squadron, sharing the history and legacy of a squadron that served in the final years of the Cold War and in Operation Desert Storm.

Dr. Phillips High’s student body president Christiana Stubbs wanted to leave her mark as a Panther before heading to college.
Her idea was simple, yet heart-warming.
“I started (Panther Pride Day) because I wanted to bring together the Dr. Phillips High School community before I leave, so we can have a moment of celebration for the school, and celebrate the community, the alumni, the people here and the environment,” she said.
The event included games, activities, performances, bounce houses, a DJ and food trucks.
With dozens of people in attendance, lots of laughter and stories were shared.

Since Riley Desin substitute taught for the first time at Foundation Academy in 2023, he knew he was being called to serve the youth.
Today, he's a full-time employee in the admissions office and the assistant varsity coach for the boys' basketball team at Foundation Academy.

Kenneth Bush took over the head coaching role of Ocoee High track-and-field team this season. In his first year, the team has bought into his emphasis on grit when training. Since the season began, the team has broke eight school records and prepares to send 14 athletes to states Saturday, May 9.
