โThe job of someone who chooses to specialize in color is always going to be developing a palette, developing a sense of taste...โ
That line stayed with me long after the recording ended.
Next week on the #ColoristSocietyPodcast, @onigold chats with @vanhurkman about @Adobe โs new Color Mode in Premiere Pro, the future of color grading, and what happens when creative tools begin to reshape how we think, see, and decide.
Hereโs a short preview from the conversation.

Most people learn color through tools.
Very few learn how to see. #ColoristSocietyPodcast
In this conversation with Brad Moody @bmoodyvid , we go beyond software into judgment, taste, and what truly defines professional work.

Most products do not fail because they lack features. They fail because they misunderstand human behavior.
Users do not interact with products logically. They react emotionally, form habits subconsciously, and make decisions based on perception, not structure.
Behavior is the real interface.

Most people will say ๐๐ฑ๐ผ๐ฏ๐ฒ just added new color tools to Premiere Pro. That is not what happened. Adobe changed something deeper.
For years, editors have lived with a quiet compromise. Stay inside the NLE and accept limited color tools, or leave your timeline and enter systems built for experts. That gap shaped how a generation worked.
What Adobe introduced with ๐๐ผ๐น๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ ๐ผ๐ฑ๐ฒ is not just easier grading. It is a shift in how creative decisions are made. Less navigation. Less guesswork. More direct interaction with the image. And more importantly, a move from mastering tools to making better decisions.
As a UX researcher and film colorist, this is the part that matters to me. When tools remove friction, the real skill becomes clearer. Not technique or software, but judgment.
I wrote a deeper breakdown of what this means for editors, colorists, and the future of creative tools.

Good design is invisible.
This is not because it lacks complexity, but because it removes friction so effectively that users never notice the effort behind it.
Clarity is not accidental.
Clarity is engineered.

Color is not decoration. It is direction.
Before a user understands a product, they have already felt it.
That feeling is not random. It is designed.
In film, we guide emotion.
In products, we guide behavior.
What people feel first
often determines what they do next.ย ย
The medium changes. The psychology does not.
